Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: March 20-26

Alyson Czaplewski, Greenfield

The Greenfield softball team got two games in, in the opening week of the season last week and Czaplewski came out the gates firing. The Hustlin' Hawks opened up their season with a 7-0 win over Saint Thomas More. Czaplewski pitched a four-hit shutout, striking out eight along the way. From the plate, she went one of three with an RBI and run scored. The junior pitcher came in, in relief in a 10-9 win over Wauwatosa West. She pitched six innings, giving up three runs (one earned) while striking out six and giving up four hits. Czaplewski added more pop from the plate, finishing two of four with two doubles, an RBI, a walk and two runs scored.

Isaiah Deitz, Chequamegon

Deitz started his senior track season off with a bang this past weekend as he and the rest of the Screaming Eagles participated at the T-Bird Indoor Invitational in Lakeland. The senior runner won a trio of individual events and finished third in another while Chequamegon won the team title in the boys standings. Deitz began the day with a win in the 400 meter race with a time of 59.24 seconds. He also won the 800 meter race in 2:22.54. Deitz then won the only jump event he competed in, the long jump, with a length of 16-10.50. Apart from his three first place finishes, Deitz added a third place finish in the 1,600 meter run, finishing in 5:10.08.

Landon Deneen, Shell Lake

Shell Lake competed at the Northern Badger Classic, small school division, in Menomonie this past weekend. Deneen won a pair of events and set two meet records along the way. First, the senior cleared 6-02.00 in the high jump which tied him for the top spot as far as height cleared. He finished second in the event. Deneen went ahead and won the 200 meter dash in a meet record of 23.28 seconds. He followed that up with a 400 meter dash meet record of 50.69 seconds. Deneen was a big reason why Shell Lake finished fourth in the standings as a team.

Ashlyn Grimm, Auburndale

Grimm took to the mound and the plate in the opening week of the softball season for Auburndale. She opened the season getting a win on the mound in a 15-2 victory over Waupaca. Grimm struck out four and gave up one unearned run on two hits over four innings of work. From the plate, the senior went three of four with an RBI and a stolen base. In the following 7-6 win over Shawano, Grimm struck out five and gave up two earned runs on three hits over four innings pitched. Grimm added a hit, a walk and a run scored over the Shawano win and an 11-4 victory over Rib Lake.

Jadence Nagel, Kickapoo/La Farge

The Kickapoo/La Farge co-op track team competed in the Cashton Indoor Invite held in La Crosse this past weekend, and took home a first place finish on the girls side. Nagel was a big reason why. The sophomore took home a pair of individual wins as well as being a part of a relay winning team. Nagel won the triple jump with a distance of 32-04.75 as well as winning the 400 meter run in 1:01.95. She also competed on the 4x200 meter relay team that won with a time of 1:56.55.
