Shell Lake senior Landon Deneen has been selected as the Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week for the week of March 20-26 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There were 4,371 total votes this week. Deneen topped all vote getters with 1,635 votes. Kickapoo's Jadence Nagel came in second with 1,542 votes.
Shell Lake competed at the Northern Badger Classic, small school division, in Menomonie this past weekend. Deneen won a pair of events and set two meet records along the way. First, the senior cleared 6-02.00 in the high jump which tied him for the top spot as far as height cleared. He finished second in the event. Deneen went ahead and won the 200 meter dash in a meet record of 23.28 seconds. He followed that up with a 400 meter dash meet record of 50.69 seconds. Deneen was a big reason why Shell Lake finished fourth in the standings as a team.
