Amherst took home an 8-0 shutout win of Weyauwega-Fremont this past Monday in its only game of the week. Blaskowski was dominant in the game, pitching a complete game no-hitter. The senior hurler struck out 13 batters in his no-hit bid. He also contributed from the plate, going one of three with an RBI, walk and two runs scored. Blaskowski added two stolen bases, dominating three facets of the game.
Geydoshek was absolutely unflappable this past week, collecting three wins on the mound for the Preble softball team. The sophomore pitcher began her week by pitching a no hitter in a 13-0 win over Notre Dame. She struck out twelve batters and allowed just one walk on her pitching record. Geydoshek also went three of four with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored from the plate. She then pitched six innings in a 5-4 win over Menasha on Saturday at the home Triangular. She struck out 14 batters and allowed one unearned run on one hit. Geydoshek finished her week pitching a five-inning 11-0 shutout of Menomonee Falls later in the day Saturday. She allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out 11 batters. Geydoshek also went three of three from the plate with a home run, four RBIs and a run scored.
The Waukesha West girls soccer team got its first two matches of the season in this past week, and Ries took over the pitch. First in a 6-0 win over Catholic Memorial, the senior forward netted a hat trick and added two assists. Ries then had another four goals and one assist in an 8-0 win over Wisconsin Rapids. Over the two games, she scored seven goals and assisted on three, accounting for ten of the fourteen team goals.
Streit and the Edgar track and field team competed at the Marawood Conference Indoor Meet at UW-Stevens Point this past Monday. He took home a quartet of wins, including three individual at the event. The junior jumper won the triple jump at 43-7 and the long jump at 19-5 to begin his day. He then won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.02 seconds, capping off his individual dominance at the event. Streit also was a part of the 4x400 meter relay winning team that finished in 3:41.50.
Volk had quite the week at a pair of meets last week. First Volk and the rest of the Three Lakes track and field team competed at the Northland Pines Meet on Thursday. The senior won the 55-meter hurdles in 9.64 seconds and came in fifth in the shot put at 27-6. Volk then competed at the Wisconsin State Indoor Track and Field Championships at UW-Whitewater over the weekend. She won the high jump event at 5-4 and came in second in both the long jump and triple jump with distances of 17-11.5 and 36-4 respectively. Volk's performance fueled Three Lakes to a third place finish in the girls team standings.
