Barron/Cumberland senior Sydney Stauner has been selected as the rSchool Today Athlete of the Week for the week of April 17-23 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There were 2,943 total votes this week. Stauner topped all vote getters with 1,129 votes. Johnson Creek's Dylan Bredlow came in an extremely close second with 769 votes.
Stauner couldn't be stopped on the pitch this past week, fueling the Barron/Cumberland girls soccer team to three wins. First in a 6-0 shutout of Amery, the senior midfielder had four goals and one assist. She followed that up with three more goals and two assists in a 6-0 win over Hayward. Stauner finished her with with four goals and an assist in a 15-0 win over Phillips. On the week, Stauner had 11 goals and four assists over three matches.
She continued her hot streak this week by scoring four goals and assisting on another in a 15-0 win over Spooner.
