The Tenth Annual WFCA Combine was held over the weekend, and full results are now available. The Combine was split into five sessions, though all athletes were tested on the same events. All events were held at NX Level Fitness in Waukesha. A total of 505 athletes competed in the Combine.

The WFCA Combine was conducted by NX Level staff with many high school football coaches assisting, and sponsored by the WFCA, NX Level, Epoch Recruiting, and WisSports.net. Special thank you to WFCA Combine Director Tony Biolo for organizing the event and compiling the results and Brad Arnett & crew at NX Level for administering the testing throughout the day.

More than 75 college coaches were on hand from at least 24 different schools, with several programs sending multiple coaches to evaluate potential prospects. While D1-FBS coaches were prohibited from attending by NCAA rules, eight D1-FCS coaches from five different schools were in attendance and closely monitoring the action. 40-YARD DASH

There were some blistering times posted in the 40-yard dash Saturday afternoon, which was done via hand-timing by the professionals from NX Level.

Burlington Class of 2024 wide receiver Tommy Teberg posted the fastest 40-yard dash time at the Combine, running it in 4.44 seconds. Watertown 2024 receiver Zach Scher and Homestead 2025 defensive back Sean O'Byrne shared the next fastest time in the 40 at 4.50 seconds. West Bend East 2024 quarterback Owen Carlson and Kettle Moraine 2024 defensive back Noah Hait were next at 4.51 seconds.

A total of 16 athletes ran the 40-yard dash in less than 4.60 seconds. The heaviest player of the group was West De Pere 2024 defensive lineman Andrew Baumgart, who posted a time of 4.57 seconds while weighing in at 230 pounds while standing 6'1" in bare feet.

L-Drill

The L-Drill was again a part of the Combine, with many college coaches paying close attention to the event, which is a great measure of body lean, hip flexibility, and change-of-direction skills. A standout in all of the events, the top time went to Port Washington's Ben Fritsch, a Class of 2024 receiver who was the East Central Conference Player of the Year after moving to quarterback part-way through the year, with a time of 6.81 seconds. 

Next up was West Bend East 2024 quarterback Owen Carlson with a time of 6.88 seconds, followed by a 6.93 second mark by Cashton 2024 linebacker Brett Hemmersbach. All told, five players posted times below seven seconds, with four more at exactly 7.00 seconds.

Short Shuttle

The short shuttle or pro agility is another outstanding change-of-direction test, with athletes starting from a stop, running five yards in one direction, ten yards the other direction, and five yards back to the center. College coaches lined up around the testing locations all day, as it is one of the most beneficial events for seeing how players move, bend, and control their bodies.

In the Shuttle event, the top time went to Oshkosh West 2025 quarterback Chase Brandl with a mark of 4.13 seconds. Just behind was previously mentioned Ben Fritsch of Port Washington at 4.18 seconds. Three players ran 4.20 seconds in the short shuttle: West Bend East's Owen Carlson, Waunakee 2024 wide receiver David Emerich, and Neenah 2025 defensive back Grant Dean.

Vertical Jump

Sun Prairie East 2025 receiver Cooper White had the best vertical jump (measured by electronic pads) of 41.7 inches. DeForest 2025 running back Brad Jacobson was next at 40.9" inches, while Wisconsin Heights 2025 defensive lineman John Reader was close behind with a leap of 40". 30 athletes had a vertical jump of at least 36 inches.

Broad Jump

An impressive nine players cleared at least 10-feet in the broad jump. UPDATE: The top mark in the broad jump actually belonged to Watertown receiver Zach Scher, who went 10'2.5". Wausau West 2024 running back Raymond Reineck had the second-best mark of 10'2", while Owen Abler of New Holstein and Erik Schmidt of Marquette both had 10'0.25". Noah Hait of Kettle Moraine, Elijah Brown of Tomah, Gabriel Klatt of Beaver Dam, Joseph Koch of Menomonee Falls, Ben Smith of Hortonville, and Chase Sturm of Stanley-Boyd had leaps of 9'10".

Bench Press

Players also tested in the bench press, with 2024 prospects repping at 185 pounds, and 2025 prospects at 170 pounds. Wisconsin Rapids 2024 linebacker Carter Christy had the most reps of 185 pounds with 31. Westosha Central linebacker Keaton Enright and Wisconsin Rapids defensive back Ashton Fischer were next with 30, while Palmyra-Eagle's Joey Brown and Nicolet's Max Stuhlmacher each had 26 reps.

The top mark in the 2025 class of 170 pounds on the bench press was posted by Westosha Central linebacker Landon Taylor, who lifted the bar 32 times.

There some huge lineman in attendance including Sun Prairie East 2024 offensive lineman Alton Williams (6'7", 286), Wautoma 2025 offensive lineman Michael Roeske (6'7", 283), Watertown Luther Prep 2024 offensive lineman Isaiah Durkee (6'7", 295), Kettle Moraine 2025 offensive lineman Brayden Thompson (6'7", 297), and Platteville 2024 defensive lineman Zachary McClain (6'7", 219). A total of 11 players measured at least 6'6" in bare feet.

Menomonee Falls 2024 offensive lineman Steven Scott (6'5", 260 pounds) may win the "First Off the Bus" Award, with a hulking frame, huge thighs and lower body, and tattoo that covered the entire back of his left calf.
