The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association has announced the 2023 Coach of the Year awards for high school and college.

Brian Winchester of De Pere has been selected as the Boys High School Coach of the Year after leading the Redbirds to their first state title since 1934. De Pere finished a perfect 30-0 to capture the Division 1 state title as the wire-to-wire number one team in the state. The Redbirds were led by co-Mr. Basketball John Kinziger and a talented core group that also included All-State junior Will Hornseth. The team left no doubt about their status as the best in the state, beating eventual D2 champion Pewaukee plus powerhouses Wisconsin Lutheran and Kimberly in non-conference play before taking down Kettle Moraine and Arrowhead in the state tournament.

Sara Rohde of Notre Dame is the WBCA Girls Basketball Coach of the Year, guiding the Tritons to 29 straight wins, culminating in a third consecutive Division 2 state championship. It is the seventh WIAA title for the program, the last five coming under Rohde's leadership, as she also led Notre Dame to championships in 2013, 2014, 2021, and 2022. The Tritons opened and closed the season against Pewaukee, falling to the Pirates in the very first game of the year, though without All-State point guard Trista Fayta. After dispatching McFarland in a state semi-final, the Tritons avenged their only loss of the year, defeating Pewaukee 64-49 for the Division 2 title.
