Below are the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week Nominees for this week. Voting is open until Thursday at 2:00 pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Athlete of the Week Nominees: May 8-14

Milam Harvey, Verona

Harvey competed at the Big 8 Conference Championships this past week and swept the three jump events handily. The senior jumper began his day by winning the high jump with a height of 6-02.00. Harvey then took home individual titles in both the long and triple jumps. He won the long jump with a distance of 21-08.50 and the triple jump at 43-10.00. The Verona boys team won the team conference title with a total score of 128.

Vivian Jones, Kenosha Indian Trail

The Kenosha Indian Trail girls track and field team came in second place at the the Southeast Conference Championships at Kenosha Tremper this past week. Jones was a big catalyst for the squad. The senior trackster won the long jump with a distance of 17-08.75. Jones then won both the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles. She took home a first place finish in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 15.55 seconds and won the 300 meter hurdles in 48.20 seconds.

Taylor Schad, Kiel

The Kiel girls soccer team is undefeated this season and Schad has been a huge reason why. The senior forward began her week with a bang, netting six goals in a 9-1 win over Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian. She then added two more goals and an assist in an 8-0 win over Roncalli. Schad ended her week by netting one more goal and assisting on another as Kiel knocked off St. Mary's Springs 7-2.

Kyle Wisniewski, New London

Wisniewski won the trio of jump events at the Bay Conference Championships at West De Pere this past week, helping New London finish second int he team standings. The senior jumper took home a first place finish in the high jump at 6-06.00. Wisniewski also won both the long and triple jump events, completing the trifecta. He won the long jump with a distance of 22-03.00 and the the triple jump at 44-08.25.

Haley Zembo, Superior

Zembo is one of the top pitchers in the state and won four games this past week for the undefeated Superior softball squad. The Winona State commit began her week by pitching a no-hitter in an 8-0 win over Duluth Denfeld. She struck out 19 batters in seven innings, the only base runner reaching on an error. Zembo then pitched four and two-thirds innings, striking out twelve batters, in a 9-0 win over Ashland. She then pitched three innings of relief in a 7-0 win over Grand Rapids and struck out six. Zembo pitched a complete game in a 4-1 win over Watertown, striking out ten along the way. She finished her week by getting the win on the mound after pitching three innings, striking out eight, in a 5-4 win over Stevens Point. For the week, Zembo pitched 24 and 2/3 innings. She struck out 55 batters, allowed two runs and gave up just five hits.
