FOOTBALL

Offense

Tamir Thomas, Junior (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls), Running Back of UW-Whitewater

Thomas registered four touchdowns in a single game for the third time in his career to help lead No. 8-ranked UW-Whitewater to a 56-28 win over No. 4-ranked Saint John’s University (Minn.) at Perkins Stadium on Sept. 9. Thomas accumulated 179 yards on 17 rushing attempts with three touchdowns, including a 59-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, followed by a 10-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and nine-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. He added a 15-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter.

Defense

Gavino Lopez, Senior (Dorchester, Wis./Colby), Defensive Back of UW-Stevens Point

Lopez recorded his first career interception in a 31-28 win over St. Norbert College (Wis.) at Community Stadium at Goerke Park on Sept. 9. His fourth-quarter pick and subsequent 11-yard return set up the game-winning field goal. Lopez also picked up a loose football on a punt in the second quarter and returned it 54 yards for a touchdown. He added had three tackles on defense, two of which were solo tackles.

Special Teams

Aleks Sauer-Milli, Freshman (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay), Kicker/Punter of UW-Stevens Point

Sauer-Milli kicked his first career field goal and it turned out to be the decisive points in a 31-28 win over St. Norbert College (Wis.) at Community Stadium at Goerke Park on Sept. 9. His game-winning kick was a 40-yard field goal with 4:34 remaining to break a 28-28 tie. Sauer-Milli also successfully converted all four extra-point attempts.
