WisSports.net is proud to announce the launch of our coverage of the newly WIAA-sanctioned sport of lacrosse that will begin with boys and girls seasons this spring.
In December of 2022, the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association approved the addition of boys and girls lacrosse, marking the first time a new sport was brought under the WIAA umbrella since 1982, when soccer was added.
There are 41 boys teams that will operate in the first year of WIAA lacrosse, with 36 girls teams competing this season.
WSN's coverage includes the launch of the 2024 seasons for both boys and girls lacrosse, featuring team pages, conference pages, schedules, standings, and much more.
We are working with the lacrosse coaches, the lacrosse coaches association, and the Wisconsin Lacrosse Hub to coordinate coach involvement in this process.
We are also very excited to work with Rick Dedrick and Jason McGillivray, who have operated the popular Wisconsinhighschoolax channels on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. They have become recognized experts in the sport of lacrosse in the state and will contribute content to WisSports.net, including previews, player features, analysis, and more.
Additional coverage, content, and news will be provided throughout the season as well.
"For a long time we have fielded questions from fans, coaches, and others in the lacrosse community about adding the sport to our coverage, and we are very excited to kick things off with the inaugural WIAA season," said WSN General Manager Travis Wilson.
