Week 5 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Beaver Dam Golden Beavers

Beaver Dam scored its first win over an East Central Conference opponent with a dominating 34-15 win over previously undefeated Plymouth. The Golden Beavers out-gained the Panthers 416-166, with many of Plymouth's yards coming late when the outcome was decided. Josiah Barnes ran for 164 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries, while Eli Bryant threw for 165 yards and a score. Brandon Morrissey added two rushing scores and the defense picked off three passes, two by Eli Johnson.

Catholic Memorial Crusaders

In a matchup of top ten teams in Division 3, sixth-ranked New Berlin West was no match for second-ranked Catholic Memorial, as the Crusaders scored a 42-0 victory. They limited West's powerful rushing attack to just 111 yards on 42 carries, an average of just 2.7 yards per attempt. The CMH defense also picked off three passes, one of which Gabe Talla returned for a touchdown. Marvanous Butler-Brown returned a fumble 85-yards for a touchdown to close out the scoring in the fourth quarter. M.J. Mitchell threw a pair of scores over on offense.

Ithaca Bulldogs

Ithaca's move to the Scenic Bluffs Conference this season couldn't have gone much better so far. A week after besting Bangor, the Bulldogs downed Cashton 42-7 in a running clock to end the Eagles' 16-game league winning streak. Keegan Jones completed eight-of-nine passes for 122 yards and two scores, Wyatt Hilby ran for 139 yards and three touchdowns, and Channing Brown hauled in two touchdowns to go with two interceptions on defense. Ithaca remains undefeated, moving to 5-0.

Pepin/Alma Eagles

Pepin/Alma trailed Blair-Taylor heading into the fourth quarter, but the Eagles rallied twice in the final period to score a 38-34 victory and remain undefeated on the season. Trenton Krzoska ran for a touchdown in the fourth quarter and it was his 17-yard pass to Mason Westberg that provided the game-winning points. Pepin/Alma ran for 372 yards, with 166 by Justin Bergmann and 141 from Liam Midtovne.

Wausau East Lumberjacks

Don't look now, but after years of struggles, including several dropping down to 8-player football, the Wausau East Lumberjacks may be back to being a postseason contender already. East jumped out to a 16-0 lead and held on for dear life in a 23-22 win over Mosinee, ending the Indians' 27-game Great Northern Conference winning streak. Wausau East stopped a potential go-ahead two-point conversion with under two minutes remaining to preserve the victory. Davis Winter threw a pair of touchdowns to Jesse Napgezek, Iain Stahel ran for 100 yards and returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, and Gio Gomez hit an important early field goal.
