Jolly Good Week 7 Player of the Week Nominees

Gio Gomez, Wausau East

Wausau East is on the brink of its first playoff appearance since 2012, with a 16-14 win over Merrill on Saturday getting the Lumberjacks to three wins in the Great Northern Conference and onto the proverbial postseason bubble. Junior kicker Gio Gomez nailed a 29-yard field goal with just 35 seconds remaining to provide the game-winning points.

Beckett Koerten, Bay Port

Junior kicker Beckett Koerten booted home a 35-game field goal as time expired to lift Bay Port to an improbable 19-17 victory over De Pere, remaining undefeated in the FRCC-North. Koerten also made both of his extra point attempts in the game, which saw the Pirates force a safety with 35 seconds remaining and then drive down to get in position for the game-winning kick.

Taylor Schaumberg, Lomira

Lomira took down Flyway heavyweight Saint Mary's Springs 21-7 on Friday night to remain in a tie for first place in the league standings heading into the final two weeks of the season. Senior running back Taylor Schaumberg was a workhorse for the Lions, carrying the ball 27 times for 140 yards and two scores, as he added two catches for 40 yards as well.

Tavian Shramek, Blair-Taylor

Tavian Schramek helped Blair-Taylor take down Eleva-Strum 52-30, resulting in a four-way tie for the top spot in the Dairyland Conference heading into the home stretch. Schramek completed nine-of-12 passes for 245 yards and four touchdowns, ran the ball 11 times for 140 yards and three scores, and had five tackles on defense.

Logan Ten Haken, New London

New London greatly improved its playoff chances with a 50-44 overtime win against Fox Valley Lutheran on Friday night. Junior running back Logan Ten Haken had a huge game, rushing 34 times for 308 yards with four touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 15 yards, had two, two-point conversions, and recorded three solo tackles for the Bulldogs and head coach Kyle Collins.
