Deerfield junior Emmerson Drobac has been selected as the Box Out Sports Athlete of the Week for the week of October 21-27 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There were 3,429 total votes this week. Drobac topped all vote getters with 1,039 votes. De Pere's Grady Lenn finished in second with 862 votes.
Drobac will compete at state in cross country for the third straight season after winning her sectional and posting the fastest time, regardless of division, across the entire state. The junior runner competed at the Deerfield/Cambridge sectional and finished the race in 17:16.74, over a minute faster than the second place finisher. Drobac's time was the fastest in the entire state in sectionals by over 20 seconds compared to the second fastest finish. Drobac will now run in the WIAA Division 2 State Girls Cross Country Meet for the third straight year after finishing ninth as a freshman and fifth as a sophomore.
