Oostburg (23-3 overall) went a perfect 12-0 to claim the Big East South title. Sheboygan Lutheran (22-6) finished second, going 10-2, and ending the year one victory away from the WIAA State Tournament, dropping a 69-58 contest against eventual Division 4 state champion Laconia, 69-58, in a sectional final. Spots three and four went to Random Lake (14-12, 7-5) and Sheboygan Christian (18-9, 6-6), respectively. Sheboygan Christian advanced to a D5 sectional semifinal, falling to eventual D5 state champion Albany/Monticello, 65-36. Closing out the standings, Kohler (9-16, 4-8), Cedar Grove-Belgium (10-15, 3-9), and Ozaukee (5-20, 0-12).

Players to Watch
Olivia Bahr, sr., Cedar Grove-Belgium – Bahr, a 5-10 wing, averaged 14 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game last season, earning second-team all-conference.
Taylor Brigham, sr., Sheboygan Lutheran – Brigham, a 5-11 wing, tallied 13.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.3 steals per game last season en route to being selected first-team all-Big East South and honorable mention WBCA all-state. The NCAA Division III UW-La Crosse recruit also made 33 three-pointers.
Lexi Gruman, soph., Random Lake – Gruman, a 5-6 guard, will take on a featured role after averaging 11.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 3.4 steals per game in her debut season. She also connected on 42 three-pointers.
Ady Ketterhagen, jr., Oostburg – Ketterhagen, a 5-9 guard, was named Big East South Player of the Year for the second consecutive season and received WBCA all-state last season. The Green Bay recruit averaged 21.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 4.1 steals per game with 46 three-pointers made. Ady has compiled 1,021 points, 389 rebounds, 206 assists, and 213 steals through her first two seasons.
Kinsley Ketterhagen, frosh., Oostburg – Ketterhagen, a 6-2 guard, will make an immediate impact for the Lady Dutch. The freshman phenom already holds Division I offers, including Green Bay, Marquette, and Wisconsin. Kinsley
Riley Ketterhagen, jr. Oostburg – Ketterhagen, a 5-9 guard, averaged 17.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.8 steals per game last season on her way to receiving first-team all-Big East South and honorable mention WBCA all-state. The Green Bay recruit also made 69 three-pointers last season and will enter her junior year with 140 through two seasons while shooting over 40 percent.
Samantha Veldkamp, soph., Sheboygan Christian – Veldkamp, a 6-1 forward, was named honorable mention WBCA all-state last season, averaging 14.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.7 steals, and 4.1 blocks per game.
Addy Verhagen, sr., Sheboygan Lutheran – Verhagen, a 5-4 point guard, received first-team all-conference and WBCA all-state recognition last season after averaging 14.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.3 steals per contest. She also knocked down 48 three-pointers. Through her first three seasons, Addy has compiled 1,192 points, 382 assists, and 235 steals, helping Sheboygan Lutheran to a 63-18 record.
2024-25 Team Previews
1) Oostburg is the favorite to win its sixth consecutive Big East South championship. The Lady Dutch, winners of their last 45 conference games, welcome back their top two players from last year’s team which went undefeated in the league and reached a Division 3 regional final, ending the season with a 23-3 record. Isaiah Ketterhagen, 293-174 record as a head coach, has a 145-33 mark in seven years at Oostburg. Coach Ketterhagen told WSN that they have a group that really enjoys the work. “We have a mix of kids that work hard and want to work at their basketball craft and that's going to be pretty fun for us to coach.” Coach Ketterhagen said that his main concern is how quickly they begin to understand their roles and how they embrace those. Two-time Big East South Player of the Year Ady Ketterhagen headlines the roster while Riley Ketterhagen joins her twin sister as a top returnee. Joining the team this season is Kinsley Ketterhagen, the second-youngest of coach Ketterhagen’s daughters, who already holds several NCAA Division I offers. Oostburg, looking for its 11th WIAA State Tournament appearance and first since 2010, is in the same half-sectional as Kettle Moraine Lutheran, last year’s sectional champion, while Catholic Memorial and Milwaukee Academy of Science are on the other side of the sectional. The Lady Dutch open the season at home against Laconia, winners of the last two Division 4 WIAA state titles, Their non-conference schedule also includes Pius XI Catholic (Nov. 29 at Brookfield Central Thanksgiving Shootout), Beaver Dam (Jan. 14), Waunakee (Feb. 8), and Appleton East (Feb. 18).

2) Sheboygan Lutheran will look to compete for the Big East South title. The Crusaders welcome back three starters from last year’s team which finished 10-2 in the league and one win away from the WIAA State Tournament, falling to eventual Division 4 state champion Laconia. Tyler Thomas, who has a 42-12 record in two years at Sheboygan Lutheran, told WisSports.net that strengths include team chemistry, leadership, unselfishness, work ethic, and grit. Addy Verhagen, the team leader in points, assists, and steals last season, leads the way for the Crusaders while fellow senior Taylor Brigham, who was second on the team in most categories, joins Verhagen as a top returnee. Sheboygan Lutheran dropped to Division 5 this season and was placed in Sectional 4 in the same half-sectional as Lourdes Academy while defending Division 5 state champion Albany/Monticello is on the side of the sectional. The Crusaders’ first contest against Oostburg is on January 7.

3) Random Lake brings back three of its top four scorers from last year’s team which finished 7-5 in the Big East South and 14-12 overall. The Rams will need to fill the scoring void left with the graduation of leading scorer Halle Van Horn. They also had a change at the top as Aaron Rathke was named to lead the program. Lexi Gruman, the second-leading scorer on the team last season, will move into a featured role on offense. Random Lake opens conference play at home against Sheboygan Christian on November 26.

Samantha Veldkamp, a 6-1 forward, highlights the team after finishing second in scoring and leading the way in rebounds and blocks as a freshman.

5) Cedar Grove-Belgium brings back three starters from its 2023-24 team which went 3-9 in the Big East South and 10-15 overall. The Rockets had a coaching change in the offseason, Abi Lucas was named to lead the program. Olivia Bahr, who led the team in points and assists last season, highlights the group of returning players.

Rich Wiese, who enters his second year at the helm, told WisSports.net that they are going to be young and inexperienced. Claire Brotz, who was third in scoring last season, will move into a featured role for the Blue Bombers.
