Baldwin-Woodville is coming off an impressive win over a previously undefeated Freedom team in the sectional championship, as Gavin Sell went wild once again, helped by a big game from Taden Holldorf. This will be a great matchup of dynamic, dual-threat quarterbacks, as Winneconne will counter Sell's talents with junior quarterback Brody Schaffer, the Bay Conference Offensive Player of the Year who has more than 1500 yards both passing and rushing.
Grantsburg had no troubles with a top-seeded Regis squad who had several players out with injury, as the Pirates scored a 31-8 win, with Ian Burkman going for 193 yards and three touchdowns. Bonduel handed Coleman its first loss of the season last week, as the Bears are into the state semi-finals for the first time since their only other appearance in 2010.
Edgar's defense rose to the occasion once again, limiting Lourdes Academy to just 163 yards of offense. Boyceville's defense carried them to a Sectional final win as well, holding Spring Valley to 141 yards in a 21-6 rematch victory.
Northwestern avenged an earlier loss to Saint Croix Falls by taking down the Saints 20-8 on Friday night, as the Tigers advance to the state semi-finals for the first time since 2009. Wrightstown had to turn to the passing game a bit more than normal to hold off previously undefeated Kiel, with Tigers quarterback Trevor Vande Hey completing nine-of-15 passes for 128 yards and two scores in a 21-20 victory.
These teams have met in the playoffs in the past when both were part of Division 3, including a 2018 state semi-final contest won by West De Pere 35-14. Rice Lake took down previously unbeaten New Richmond last week, while West De Pere earned a hard-fought 20-14 victory over Kaukauna, as both teams flipped results from earlier in the year.
