New Auburn (23-4) won the Lakeland East championship with a 15-1 record. Clayton (17-9) and Prairie Farm (15-9) each went 13-3 (Clayton won both meetings). The middle of the league standings went Lake Holcombe (11-14, 9-7), Winter (9-15, 8-8), and Flambeau (8-17, 7-9) while Cornell (6-18, 5-11), Bruce (3-20, 2-14), and Birchwood (0-23, 0-16) closed out the standings.

Players to Watch
Hayden Bergmann, jr., Clayton – Bergmann, a guard, was voted first-team all-Lakeland East last season as a sophomore, averaging 13.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 5.0 steals per game.
Sophie Bergmann, jr., Prairie Farm – Bergman, a forward, will take on a leading role this season after averaging 6.7 points per game as a sophomore.
Nora Jensen, jr., New Auburn – Jensen, a guard, was voted first-team all-conference last season, averaging 11.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 3.2 steals per game.
Reilly Kavanaugh, jr., Winter – Kavanaugh, a guard, will move into a featured role this season after tallying 8.6 points per contest as a sophomore.
Morgan Lobitz, sr., Birchwood – Lobitz, a 5-10 forward, was named second-team all-Lakeland East last season for the Bobcats.
Kyra North, jr., New Auburn – North, a 5-6 guard, contributed 8.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.9 steals per contest last season as a sophomore.
Reese Roehl, jr., Flambeau – Roehl, a 5-10 forward, will take on an expanded role this season after tallying 6.4 points per contest as a sophomore.
Isabelle Schradle, jr., Clayton – Schradle averaged 10 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per contest, receiving second-team all-league honors.
Bralee Schroeder, sr., Cornell – Schroeder, a 5-6 point guard, scored 12.3 points per game last season, receiving second-team all-Lakeland East.
Kara Trott, soph., Bruce – Trott, a 5-6 guard, tallied 12 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game last season as a freshman, earning second-team all-conference.
2024-25 Team Previews
1) New Auburn returns nearly its entire roster from last year’s which claimed the Lakeland West championship with a 15-1 record and advanced to a Division 5 regional final, ending the season with a 23-4 record. Nora Jensen, who led the team in points and steals last season, headlines the roster for the Trojans. New Auburn opens the season at Clear Lake (D5 state qualifier last season), on November 21. The Trojans’ first league contest is at Bruce on December 10. New Auburn is in the same half-sectional as Webster and Siren, the top teams entering the year in Division 5, Sectional 1.

Kevin Fall, who guided the Bears to four consecutive WIAA State Tournament appearances (2016-19), enters his second stint as the Bears’ head coach. Hayden Bergmann, the third-leading scorer in the league last season, headlines the roster.

8) Lake Holcombe will need to replace three starters, including Lakeland East Player of the Year Emma Lechlitner, from last year’s team which went 9-7 in the league and 11-14 overall. First-year head coach Matthew Stewart told WSN they are a super young team with a lot of heart. “Defensively we are a sound group who like to fly around and get aggressive and I look to build on that this season.”
