Potosi/Cassville has been selected as the Sectional Finals WSN Football Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team defeated River Ridge for a second time this year to advance to the state semi-finals. The Chieftains were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Sectional Finals. A total of 6,246 votes were cast, as Potosi/Cassville's 2,465 votes edged Bonduel's 2,099 votes.
Potosi/Cassville defeated River Ridge earlier this year, but winning a second time in the same year is a challenge. The co-op program was up for it, rallying late to score a 21-14 victory. Dawson Weber went in for what proved to be the game-winner from six yards out with 3:13 remaining. Joe Haas ran for 86 yards while Isaiah Groom contributed 72 rushing yards and two scores along with 18 tackles on defense.
Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the State Semi-Finals nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
