Wisconsin Sports Network and WisSports.net are proud to announce Muskego's Liam Shaw as the 2024 recipient of the Tim Krumrie Award as the most outstanding senior defensive lineman in Wisconsin, part of the WSN Senior Football Awards.

Liam Shaw and teammate Nicholas McCullough combine to form one of the best defensive line duos in the state, as both have big-time potential, produced at a high level, and know what it takes to be successful coming out of one of the state’s best programs.

Last year Shaw was a First Team All-Conference selection, moving around the defensive front at times in the team’s 3-3 base set. He recorded 52 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and nine sacks on the year.

This season he's among the state leaders with 14 sacks, adding 90 total tackles for the Warriors.

"Liam is the best pass rusher in the history of Muskego football," said head coach Ken Krause. "He's a relentless player who eats, sleeps, and breathes football year-round."

Shaw was recently announced as a WFCA Large School All-State selection as the Warriors head to the Division 1 state title game this week.

Finalists for the award were Shaw, Easton Deschane of West De Pere, Sawyer Hanlon of Kimberly, Reggie Kloehn of Hortonville, and Torin Pettaway of Middleton.

Past winners of the award include Kimberly's Mike Hardy (2009), Edgar's Jeff Raymond (2010), Marshfield's Trevor Peterson (2011), Brookfield East's Alec James (2012), Arrowhead's Billy Hirschfeld (2013), Homestead's David Pfaff (2014), Amherst's Tyler Biadasz (2015), Franklin's Hawk Wimmer (2016), Kimberly's Boyd Dietzen (2017), Waunakee's Reed Ryan (2018), Stratford's Ben Barten (2019), Homestead's Ayo Adebogun (2020), Sun Prairie's Isaac Hamm (2021), Kettle Moraine's Sam Coufal (2022), and Waunakee's Wade Bryan (2023).

The award is named after Tim Krumrie, a graduate of Mondovi High School who went on to play for the University of Wisconsin and 12 seasons in the National Football League. Krumrie walked-on to the Badger football team, but quickly made an impression. He led the Badgers in tackles all four years, and was a three-time All-Big Ten selection. He still holds the all-time record for solo tackles and is third on the total tackles list. Drafted in the 10th round by the Cincinnati Bengals, Krumrie played in all 16 games as a rookie and went on to start 161 games in his career. He made the Pro Bowl in 1987 and 1988, and helped the Bengals to the Super Bowl in 1989. He served as the defensive line coach for the Kansas City Chiefs for four seasons after three years with the Buffalo Bills and eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.
