Whitefish Bay freshman Maggie Dickinson has been selected as the Box Out Sports Athlete of the Week for the week of November 11-17 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There were 6,367 total votes this week. Dickinson topped all vote getters with 2,683 votes. DeForest's Payton Flowers finished in second with 2,618 votes.
Dickinson was a big reason why the Whitefish Bay girls swim team took home a Division 2 state team title. The freshman swimmer won two individual medals, two relay medals, and set a state meet record. Dickinson won the 50-yard freestyle swim with a time of 23.60 seconds. She then took home gold in the 100-yard backstroke, winning the swim in a state meet record time of 53.28 seconds. Dickinson anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay that won with a time of 3:29.66 and was the first leg in the 200-yard medley relay team that won with a time of 1:46.75.
