Triple Threat Athlete of the Week: Dawson Weber, Potosi

The Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an honor given on WisSports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state. Players are recognized each week on WSN, with a boys and girls winner of the Pat Richter Award at the end of the season to the best three-sport athlete of the year.

The Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is presented by the U.S. Marine Corps. The award recognizes student athletes who embody the spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and discipline across multiple sports. The mission of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Milwaukee is to find qualified men and women in Wisconsin and the surrounding area interested in becoming a United States Marine. Marines maintain the legacy of the Marine Corps by winning our nations battles and returning to their communities as quality citizens whether they are active duty or reservist. The coveted title of Marine applies only to those who graduate from the Recruit Depots or Officer Candidate School. RS Milwaukee will provide any qualified man or woman the opportunity to attend the training required to become a Marine - Enlisted or Officer.

Name: Dawson Weber

School: Potosi High School

Football Honors: Four-year varsity letter winner... First team all-Six Rivers quarterback as a senior... passed for 1,322 yards and 15 touchdowns during his senior year, rushed for 365 yards and 6 touchdowns, 23 tackles, 1 interception for a touchdown... helped lead Potosi/Cassville to it's first state championship as a co-op and the first for Potosi since 2012 (the only other state appearance)... helped Potosi/Cassville to at least a share of the Six Rivers conference title the past four seasons and nine playoff wins.

Basketball Honors: Three-year varsity letter winner going into his senior season... honorable mention all-Six Rivers-West selection as a junior... averaged 10.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game last season... enters his senior year with 461 points, 330 rebounds, and 107 assists... helped Potosi to two straight conference titles and regional championships.

Baseball Honors: Three-year varsity letter-winner... honorable mention all-Six Rivers-West as a sophomore... first-team all-conference as a junior... batted .316 with a .373 on-base percentage, 24 hits, 11 RBIs, 6 stolen bases; pitched 12 1/3 innings with 9 strikeouts as a junior... enters senior year with 29 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched, career batting averaged of .293 with a .314 on-base percentage and 18 RBIs... helped Potosi to a conference and regional title as a junior.

Favorite Sport (and why): "My favorite sport would be football, Football would be my favorite sport because of the team camaraderie and the atmosphere it has."

Best Part of High School Sports (and why): "The atmosphere because everyone in the community and school shows up to support you."

Best Advice from a High School Coach: "You gotta put the time in to be successful."

Most Memorable Moment in High School Sports: "The 2024 playoff run in football to get to state."

Best Part of Playing Three Sports: "I am always busy and there is always something to do."

Most Difficult Part of Playing Three Sports: "There is not a lot of time for other stuff like hobbies during the season."

Favorite Opponent (and why):  "My favorite opponent is River Ridge because they are always a very good team and there's always a competitive atmosphere when we play."

Toughest Individual You’ve Competed Against (and why): "Seth Bunders of Wauzeka-Steuben, because of his quickness and shotmaking ability but also he could shoot the 3 very well."

Most Admired High School Teammate (and why): "Eli Adams because he is a hard worker competitive person who was a three sport athlete and was someone who could be counted on but also because he knew how to have fun at the same time."

College Plans: Undecided

Activities Outside of Sports: "I enjoy Hunting, fishing, and shooting bow. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends."
