Boys Basketball Top Highlights, Performances, and More for December 2-7

Every week, we're going to update an article with the top highlights, scoring outputs, record breaking performances, and more in boys basketball.

Below are some of the top moments, statistical nights, and more from the second week of the boys basketball season.

Monday, December 2

Hillsboro 58, Kickapoo 55
Late game heroics was the story in this one as senior wing Jerry Von Falkenstein turned a steal with five seconds left to a banked, fall away three point shot to win the game at the buzzer for Hillsboro. He finished with 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Auburndale 70, Colby 62
Blake Raab poured in a career high 33 points in Auburndale's 70-62 overtime win over Colby. The 5-9 senior guard knocked down seven threes in the process.

Jefferson 74, Clinton 70
Finn DeBlare scored a career high 38 points in last night's close win over Clinton. Teammate and freshman Tanner Bergey added 13 points and has scored in double figure games in both of his first two games. For Clinton, Reagan Flickinger added 25.

Beloit Memorial 96, Audubon Tech 79
Amared Hereford kept the trend of career nights alive for Beloit Memorial, scoring a career high 40 points for the Purple Knights. The electric junior guard added 15 rebounds, 7 steals, and 4 assists. Backcourt mate Brock Hodges added 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Reedsville 90, New Holstein 51
Prochnow and the Reedsville boys team had a great debut for the 2024-25 season. The junior guard scored 30 points on 14 of 24 shooting, adding nine assists, seven rebounds, and five steals.

Big Foot 63, Catholic Central 60
Sam Fait continued his torrid start to his sophomore season, scoring 42 points for Catholic Central despite the loss. He added five rebounds and was 15 of 16 from the free throw line.

Waupun 63, Saint Mary's Springs 56
Waupun picked up a second straight win as senior Aiden Hawkinson netted a game high 30 points, knocking down five threes in the process. He added nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Hawkinson has scored over 1,100 points in his prep career.

Chilton 71, Mishicot 52
Bennett Woelfel tied a career high by scoring 31 points in the win for the Tigers. The senior guard went 10 of 18 from the field and added eight rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and two blocks, filling up the stat sheet.

Oconto 59, Manitowoc Lutheran 58
Senior forward Carter Koch recorded a triple-double for Oconto in the victory, after nearly recording one in game one for the Blue Devils. He had 23 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, but also added four blocks and three steals, filling the state sheet.

Tuesday, December 3

Wrightstown 65, Kewaunee 64
Daniel Buntin scored two points the entire night for Wrightstown, but they were the most important two points of the game. The junior guard hit a pair of free throws with two seconds left in overtime to tie and then take the final lead for the Tigers.

Appleton East 39, Marshfield 37
In what was probably the biggest surprise of the night, Marshfield, one of the teams picked near the top of the rankings in Division 1, fell in its opening night game to Appleton East. Cade Prestigiacomo led East with 14 points while Brooks Hinson led Marshfield with 17. It doesn't appear that 6-8 junior forward Chris Pohl suited for Marshfield however, which is a large blow to the rotation.

Pacelli 79, Weyauwega-Fremont 53
Camden Schurk exploded out of the game for Pacelli in its opening game. The senior, and son of head coach John Schurk, scored a career high 36 points on the night, adding 10 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 blocks.

Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau 81, Mauston 60 
G-E-T got the win as junior lead guard Mason Brone poured in a career high 44 points for the Red Hawks. On the opposite side, freshman Jase Navis had a second straight 30-plus point game for Mauston.

Spencer 84, Northland Lutheran 63
Junior center Sam Bezlyk was a force on the interior in this one as he scored a career high 38 points and added 20 rebounds in the 21-point win.

Cochrane-Fountain City 83, Eleva-Strum 37
Cameron Lipinski was nearly perfect as he scored a game high 32 points for CFC. The senior guard went 12 of 13 from the field and 5 of 6 from three in the victory.

Stoughton 55, Fort Atkinson 53
Two very good Badger conference teams in different divisions of the conference squared off in one of the better games of the night. A defensive battle was the story here as Fort held Stoughton junior Jacob Hibner to 9 points. The Vikings were led by 13 from Carter Sullivan and 11 from LeShawn Brown. Owen Geiger had 20 and Brennan Dempsey had 16 for Fort Atkinson.

Kettle Moraine 71, Arrowhead 55
In a matchup of two teams that were at the state tournament last season and two powerhouse Classic Eight teams, Kettle Moraine got the win in the first meeting. The Lasers improved to 3-0 on the year. Zach Froemming and Roman Thompson led the Lasers with 24 and 22 points respectively.

Palmyra-Eagle 68, Madison Country Day 35
Senior post Devin Patrick poured in a career high 32 points for Palmyra-Eagle, shooting 11 of 18 from the field. He added 15 rebounds and four assists.

Oregon 75, McFarland 73
Another great Badger conference crossover non-con matchup saw Oregon take home a win with more late game heroics. Senior guard Ryan Dins hit a three with under a minute left and junior wing Vaughn Karvala hit two free-throws with 3 seconds left to clinch it. Dins finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Karvala scored a career high 44 points while adding 15 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Messmer 100, SJNMA 65
Delvito Velazquez continued his torrid start to his sophomore season at Messmer. The 5-10 guard went off for 32 points and 6 rebounds in the 100-point victory.

Sam Wagner of Clintonville is back from injury and feeling bouncy. The senior wing put down a monster dunk in the first half of a game with Shiocton that shattered the glass of the backboard of the Chieftains. The game was suspended due to this.

Milwaukee Bradley Tech 69, Janesville Parker 26
Bradley Tech took home an opening season win as up and coming junior Jakari Smith led the way for the Trojans. Smith finished with 22 points, 17 rebounds, 6 steals, and 4 assists in the game, shooting 9 of 17 from the field.

The Prairie School 84, Racine Horlick 42
The Prairie School picked up its second straight win Tuesday, after an opening season loss to Heritage Christian. Freshman Emmett Wassil has now scored in double figures in back-to-back games for the Hawks. He went 7 of 10 from the field and added 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. The Hawks were led by 22 points on 10 of 12 shooting from sophomore Chandler Perry.

Tigerton 68, Tomahawk 29
Tigerton sophomore big man James Brady took this game over for the Tigers. Brady scored 26 points and added 19 rebounds while shooting 12 of 15 from the field.

Wausau East 69, New London 51
Senior Jesse Napgezek is now just 33 points away from 1,000 in his career as he netted 31 points in the victory over New London. The University of Mary commit added eight points and nine steals. 

Westfield 80, Wild Rose 21
Senior Sam Berruecos continued his hot start to the 2024-25 season by coming two rebounds shy of a triple-double. Berruecos had a game high 31 points while adding ten steals and eight rebounds.

Sheboygan Lutheran 73, Winnebago Lutheran 63
Brennen Hackbarth poured in a career high 32 points for Sheboygan Lutheran, leading the Division 5, top-ranked Crusaders to a second straight victory.

Wisconsin Lutheran 78, Brookfield Central 68 
Wisconsin Lutheran has now won 31 straight games after beginning this season with an opening night win. Sophomore Kager Knueppel exploded onto the scene with 25 points on 8 of 11 shooting while junior and Division I college prospect Zavier Zens had 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Plymouth 87, Menasha 74
Plymouth needed all of junior Kayden Schultz's career high 35 points to hold off a tough Menasha team in the Panthers first win of the season.

Milwaukee Bay View 93, Milwaukee Madison 71
Junior Darryl Cooks poured in an eye-popping 50 points for Bay View in their win over Milwaukee Madison on Tuesday. It's the second 50-point game of the season in the state.

Oshkosh North 74, Manitowoc Lincoln 53
Senior Xzavion Mitchell is one of the favorites to win Mr. Basketball in Wisconsin this season and started his case off with a statement in the Spartans win. Mitchell scored a career high 45 points.

Wednesday, December 4

Kingdom Prep Lutheran 76, Catholic Central 53
Myles Zawacki dropped a career high 36 points for Kingdom Prep Lutheran in the opening season win.

Shorewood 81, West Allis Hale 73
Hale fell, but senior Wilson Scherer had a season high 35 points. Scherer added four rebounds and three assists and went 10 of 11 from the free throw line.

Thursday, December 5

Abbotsford 66, Owen-Withee 63
Grayson Totzke had an impressive double-double for Abbotsford as the Falcons eked out an overtime win. The 6-3 senior guard scored a career high 34 points on 12 of 16 shooting and added 15 rebounds.

Arcadia 71, Black River Falls 66
Black River Falls fell to Arcadia, but sophomore Braylan Backaus put up his second straight 30-plus point night to start the year. Backaus poured in a career high 37 points in the loss.

Dominican 113, Kingdom Prep Lutheran 70
Dominican finally got to play an opponent and made a statement with its first victory. Syracuse commit Aaron Womack III scored 29 points and added 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, and 5 blocks. Sophomore Zaihir Jones had 27 points and 7 rebounds while junior Demitrius Taylor added 25 points and 13 assists.

Bowler 63, Marion 61
Derek Schreiber scored a career high 30 points in Bowler's overtime win. The senior added 17 rebounds in an impressive double-double.

Turtle Lake 64, New Auburn 40
Brandon Wagner continues his tear for Turtle Lake, scoring 15 points and adding 22 rebounds in the win over a good New Auburn team. It's Wagner's second double-double in as many games to start the year.

Niagara 67, Gillett 21
Tommy Martin came into his senior year with over 1,100 points in three seasons. The senior guard started his final season off with a bang, going 13 of 14 from the field and scoring 31 points in the win.

Osseo-Fairchild 82, Plum City/Elmwood 63
Lucas Glaus will surpass 1,000 career points in the next few games for the co-op, especially after his monster debut to his senior year. Glaus made six threes and scored a career high 40 points, despite the defeat.

Sheboygan North 77, Plymouth 69
Junior Kayden Schultz continues to impress for Plymouth despite the lack of wins for the Panthers. Schultz had 31 points and 8 rebounds while going 12 of 12 from the free throw line.

Racine Park 86, Waterford 71
Gustafson scored 30-plus yet again for Waterford though it wasn't enough against a very good Racine Park team. The junior guard netted 31 points and added 4 rebounds and two assists.

Southern Door 88, Peshtigo 59
One of the biggest storylines of the season will be how high Southern Door's Drew Daoust climbs the all-time scoring leaderboard in state history. He started his senior campaign off in style, pouring in 33 points while adding 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Stay tuned all season with the Daoust tracker.

Spooner 60, Hayward 59
Spooner won this one with some fireworks as you can above. Sophomore Jaxson Fizel took the ball full court off a made free throw and made an acrobatic game-winner to clinch the win for the Rails.

Friday, December 6

Kaukauna 81, Oshkosh North 80
In what was billed as one of, if not the game of the week, two top-five teams in Division 1 and FVA Conference opponents squared off in a thriller of a game. Trailing most of the game, and at times by double-digits, Kaukauna clawed back and took home a win on this game-winning in-bound play to junior Andrew Jensen. For Kaukauna, Jensen had 24 points and 11 rebounds, Jona Roehrig had 21 points, and senior guard Keegan Van Kauwenberg had a team high 28 points. Xzavion Mitchell led all scorers with 40 points for Oshkosh North.

Amery 84, Somerset 72
Brothers Carter and Keaton Wollan led Amery to a big win over Middle Border Conference foe Somerset on Friday night. Carter scored a game high 32 points while Keaton added 23.

Wrightstown 52, Waupaca 43
Ethan Cyra paced Wrightstown with a career high 32 points in the victory.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 62, Saint Mary Catholic 59
Jett Rogowski scored his second straight 30-point game as the Chargers secured a second straight win. The senior guard tied a career high with 33 points.

Berlin 89, Wautoma 53
Hayden Redington was three assists short of a triple-double for Berlin in their blowout victory. The junior was 12 of 18 from the field en route to 26 points, as well as 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Junior Carter Hess added 21.

Cochrane-Fountain City 80, Blair-Taylor 46
CFC got a dominant win over Blair-Taylor as senior Cameron Lipinski was lights out for the Pirates. Lipinski scored 30 points on 10 of 14 shooting, including going 7 of 10 from beyond the arc. He added 16 rebounds and three assists.

Bonduel 89, Iola-Scandinavia 61
Bonduel is proving why they are one of the top teams in all of Division 4, having had five players scored over 15 points in this one. Cade Johnson led all scorers with 24 points. Quinn Wesenberg and Ryan Westrich both scored 16 as Carter Moesch and Race Anvelink each added 15.

Beloit Memorial 76, Chicago Crane 61
Amare Hereford continues to terrorize opposing defenses, having scored 31 points while adding 8 rebounds and 4 assists in this one for the Purple Knights. Hereford shot 18 free throws in the game as well, making 13 of them.

Gilmanton/Indepence 75, Melrose-Mindoro 74
Gilmanton/Indepence got some late game magic from senior Carlos Flores who made a post move and scored with less than one second left to give co-op a win. For Melrose, senior Aeron Hanson led all scorers with 37 points.

Kenosha Bradford 72, Kenosha Tremper 66
Andy Sauer had a day for Bradford as he willed the Red Devils to a six-point win. The senior wing poured in a career high 35 points for Bradford.

Greenfield 84, Milwaukee Lutheran 61
Mason Stieber-Pinter had a career day for Greenfield in the win over a very solid Milwaukee Lutheran team. The senior scored a career high 42 points, half of the Husltin Hawks team total. He added 10 rebounds and 2 assists.

Milwaukee Bradley Tech 77, Milwaukee North 54
Jakari Smith stuffed the stat sheet for Bradley Tech in this one, effecting the game in a handful of ways. The junior wing had 24 points, 18 rebounds, 8 steals, and 7 assists to lead the Trojans as Arvell Lockhart added 22 points.

Palmyra-Eagle 58, Williams Bay 53
Devin Patrick is two for two on double-doubles to start off his senior year as he had 22 points and 20 rebounds in this one. Dylan Walsh added 21 points for the Panthers.

Jefferson 67, Portage 63
Playing on the bigger court didn't deter Finn DeBlare from putting up big numbers offensively. The senior guard netted 31 points for the Eagles.

Ashwaubenon 89, Waupun 68
Senior transfer-in and Alabama commit Amari Allen makes the game of basketball look easy. In this win, he had his second 30-point game and his first triple-double in the state. Allen had 31 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists, dominating the game in every facet.

Wauwatosa West 81, Brookfield East 76
Sophomore sensation Jalen Brown continues to dazzle for Wauwatosa West and this game was no different. The 6-4 wing went an incredible 17 of 20 from the field for a school record 46 points in this one. He added nine rebounds and four assists as well.

Saturday, December 7

The Prairie School 79, Saint Thomas More 77
Fireworks were on full display in this one between two very good teams in the southeast part of the state. With less than a second on the clock, The Prairie School sophomore Dalton Ahlensdorf put in a game-winning layup off an assist from freshman Emmett Wassill.

Alma Center Lincoln 73, Ladysmith 66
Jace Paul helped Lincoln improve to 4-0 on the year as he poured in 34 points for the Hornets.

Mount Horeb 63, Baraboo 52
Josh Manchester had a night to remember for Mount Horeb, as one of the top juniors in the state scored 30-plus points for the second time this season. The junior wing netted 37 points, but that wasn't the story. Manchester became the program's all-time leading scorer in the process.

De Pere 66, West De Pere 56
This cross-town matchup was one of the better games on paper and it ended up being a very good game in reality. De Pere pulled out the win as senior and Wisconsin commit Zach Kinziger had a team high 33 points for the Redbirds, while senior guard and UW-Eau Claire commit Roan Demovsky added 18.

West Salem 87, New Richmond 79
West Salem picked up the hard fought win behind a trio of big time performances. Leading the way for the Panthers was senior guard Kyle Hehli who poured in a game high 32 points as well as six rebounds and six assists. Nathan Karr added 22 points while Carter Pontius had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Saint Francis 96, Messmer 92
Freshman Kaeden King has been the top scoring freshman in the state early on this season for Messmer. The 6'1 forward scored 27 points in the loss, and is averaging that exact amount over four games.

Stevens Point 47, Waunakee 45
Through over 35 minutes of this game, Jerrin Suehs had scored just five points for SPASH. The senior guard was not scared of the moment however, as off a reversal, he knocked down a go-ahead three-pointer for the Panthers with less than a second left on the clock, the second game winner of the day.

Sun Prairie East 91, Janesville Parker 62
Chris Davis Jr. was up to his old scorer ways for East in this one. The senior guard and Arkansas State commit poured in 40 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinals
