Boys Basketball Top Highlights, Performances, and More for December 8-14

Every week, we're going to update an article with the top highlights, scoring outputs, record breaking performances, and more in boys basketball.

Below are some of the top moments, statistical nights, and more from the third week of the boys basketball season.

Monday, December 9

Jacob and Jonah Koon, Abundant Life Christian
Something that I've never heard of, and that will likely never happen again took place in the Challengers 83-57 win over Fall River. Senior twin brothers Jacob and Jonah Koon both surpassed 1,000 career points in their prep careers. Jacob finished with 23 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. Jonah had 18 points, 12 steals, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds.

Hughson Thatcher, River Valley
The senior wing willed the Blackhawks to a 63-54 win over Brodhead Monday night. Thatcher, son of head coach Luke Thatcher, poured in a career high 30 points in the victory.

Dominican 119, Milwaukee Madison 58
Dominican continued its torrid start to the season behind a balanced scoring attack, and an superstar level performance from Syracuse commit Aaron Womack III. Womack had 39 points and 10 rebounds on 16 of 20 shooting. Amare Nixon had 24 points, while Zaihir Jones added 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Demitrius Taylor had a double-double with 10 points and 12 assists while Kyon Myles had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Shell Lake 44, Turtle Lake 42
The first fireworks of the week goes to Shell Lake. Senior Isaac Crosby drove the lane, pulled the help side defenders, and dumped it down to junior Adam Fritz for the game-winning layup.

Leyton Schuett, Edgar
Schuett continued his hot start to his senior year, scoring a career high 31 points in Edgar's 73-58 win over Crandon. He added three rebounds, assists, and steals in the victory.

Keegan Gipe, Greenwood
Gipe had a career day as far as scoring as Greenwood knocked off Cornell 81-53. The sophomore forward/guard netted 31 points in the victory, a high for his prep career thus far.

Timmy Meltz, Ladysmith
Ladysmith scored a tight win over Osceola 79-72 as Meltz led a quartet of players who scored in double-digits. Meltz had 29 points along with 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. For Osceola, Caleb Irlbeck had a game high 36 points while making six of nine from long range.

Xander Beeksma, Mellen
Beeksma nearly outscored South Shore himself in the Granite Digger's 83-38 win over the Cardinals. The junior guard was 13 of 19 from the field and scored 31 points, adding 7 assists in his offensive showcase.

Tuesday, December 10

New Auburn 57, Bruce 56
The first game-winner of the night took place in the Northern part of the state in the matchup of these two Lakeland-East schools. Down one, junior Colten Lotts took a reversal and attacked the rim, floating a runner off the glass to clinch the win for the Trojans. It's the second game winner in as many nights in the Lakeland conference.

Wisconsin Lutheran 79, Arrowhead 53
One of our games to watch from last night, Wisconsin Lutheran won its 33rd consecutive game as Arrowhead fell to 0-3. Both teams have played tough schedules, while the Vikings have been impressive, Arrowhead has faltered early. Sophomore Kager Knueppel led all scorers with 20 points for Wisco.

Ben Prochnow, Reedsville
Prochnow continues to be one of the better lead guards in the state with his play with the ball in his hands early on this season. The junior Reedsville point guard had a game high 23 points while adding an eye-popping 15 assists in the Panthers 71-54 win over Elkhart-Lake Glenbeulah. He added eight rebounds. Prochnow is averaging 11 assists per game.

Germantown 78, Wauwatosa West 67
In one of the best matchups of the night, Germantown got a huge Greater Metro win over D2, top-ranked Wauwatosa West. Cahlil Jones led the Warhawks with 23 points and six board while JJ Walters and Darrius Peete added 17 and 16 points. Tosa West got 31 from sophomore Jalen Brown and 22 from senior Jake Hansen. Germantown did a good in the half court defense, especially in limiting junior Matthew Kloskey to just three points.

Kade Thoma, Crivitz
Crivitz got a monster performance from the junior center in their 56-44 win over Crivitz on Tuesday. Thoma had a prep career high 34 points in the win, along with 13 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Gibraltar 69, Green Bay NEW Lutheran 67
A thriller in the Packerland conference, this game needed an overtime session to decide it. Off a sideline out of bounds, Gibraltar's Kayin Jackson got position in the post and received the inbound pass. Jackson drop stepped and put in the game winner with .9 seconds left. The junior guard finished with 16 points.

Oliver Belot, Homestead
On a team with three future college players, Belot is having a breakout sophomore campaign with Homestead. He continued that trend in a 99-54 win over West Bend East. Belot scored a career high 29 points in the victory.

Zach Behn, Kewaskum
Behn became Kewaskum's all-time leading scorer after his other-worldly performance in the 91-88 win over Winneconne. The 6-6 senior wing poured in 41 points in the win, his second 40-point performance of the season. He went 21 of 25 from the free throw line and added 19 rebounds and 7 assists in the victory.

For Winneconne, Brody Schaffer did all he could to keep the Wolves in this one against Kewaskum. He had 37 points while making 14 of 19 free throws and added six rebounds and five assists.

Jesse Napgezek, Wausau East
Napgezek led East to an 89-48 win over Marathon last night, scoring a game high 21 points and adding five assists, and two assists, steals, and blocks. The senior wing crossed the 1,000 point threshold in his prep career in the win.

Mason Spice, Lena
Spice had a career night in Lena's 62-58 overtime win over Bowler. The senior guard tallied a career high 31 points in the victory.

Jameson Beaman, Oconto Falls
Beaman put up an efficient 30 points in Fall's 65-45 win over Luxemburg-Casco. The 6-3 junior guard was 8 of 16 from the field and 11 of 12 from the free throw line in the win. He added six rebounds and two steals.

Oak Creek 65, Muskego 58
A coming out party of sorts happened in this for freshman Ja'Quan Turner of Oak Creek. One of the top players in the Class of 2028, Turner poured in a team high 26 points in the victory. For Muskego, Jack Serkowski had a game high 31 points and seven rebounds.

Drew Daoust, Southern Door
The Daoust tracker is here again as Southern Door knocked off Sevastopol 80-66. Daoust had 29 points, 9 assists, and 5 steals. He jumped jumped four spots in the all-time scoring list, going from 20th to 16th. He passed Henry Ellenson of Rice Lake, Nick Janowski of Pewaukee, Jim Zweifel of Monticello, and Marcus Domask of Waupun. Teammates Lauden Berg and Caden Pierre poured in 26 and 20 points respectively for Southern Door.

Gavin Rhead, Sparta
Sparta knocked off Black River Falls 74-61 behind the play of the senior big man. He had a season high 32 points in the victory.

Brett Schwefel, Watertown
Schwefel gave it is all as Watertown fell in overtime to Monona Grove 73-63 on Tuesday night. The senior guard poured in a career high 31 points for the Goslings in the win.

Kayden Schultz, Plymouth
Schultz passed a milestone despite the Panthers losing to Waupun 80-64 this week. The junior guard scored a team-high 34 points while adding 13 rebounds in the loss. He went 13 of 26 from the field and 7 of 11 from the free throw line. In the process, Schultz surpassed 1,000 career points just four games into his junior season.

For Waupun, Aiden Hawkinson had 32 points, making 6 of 12 three-point shots and 10 of 12 free throws.

Quinn Widiker, Webster
Widiker put up a gigantic double-double performance in the Tiger's 54-32 win over Frederic. The junior forward was 10 of 19 from the field for 22 points, but had a monstrous 24 rebounds in the victory.

Elijah Griffin, Westosha Central
Griffin proved why he's one of the top point guards in the state in the Falcons 83-61 win over Union Grove. Griffin finished with 28 points, 13 assists, and 7 rebounds. He shot 7 of 10 from beyond the arc in the win.

Amery 89, Colfax 70
This game was all about big performances from a number of athletes. For Amery, they were once again led by brother Carter and Keaton Wollan. Carter led the Warriows with 30 points and 15 rebounds while Keaton added 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. For Colax, Aiden Fischer had a game high 33 points and added 9 rebounds.

Birchwood 73, Winter 62
This Lakeland-East matchup saw a battle of two forwards take center stage. For Winter, Carter Petit had a team high 31 points and added 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. On the other side, Birchwood's Lucas Gindt was somehow slightly better. He finished with 33 points and 18 rebounds in the win.

Owen Krepline, Brillion
Krepline was hard to contain as Brillion got a 72-62 win over Eastern Wisconsin rival Valders. The senior guard scored a career high 40 points in the win on 18 of 30 shooting.

Jcobi Mathis, St. Augustine Prep
Mathis led a Augustine Prep offense that scored a 100-26 win over Cristo Rey Jesuit. The sophomore guard turned steals into points and tied his career high with 38 points in the win. He added 9 steals, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Zeke Zuberbuhler, Darlington
Zuberbuhler had a career day in Darlington's 18-point win over Fennimore, 59-43. The sophomore guard had a career high 28 points in the win, going 11 of 19 from the field.

Jayden Brown, Grantsburg
Brown's career high 42 points were much needed as Grantsburg knocked off Siren 73-63. The senior wing needed 34 shots to get his point total, but he shot 53% from the field. He had ten rebounds and six steals in the win.

Elliott Bessen, Eau Claire North
Bessen did all he could to keep North in the game, but Hudson took down the Huskies 82-69. The senior lead guard had 31 points in defeat and did a lot of damage at the free thro line where he went 15 of 19. He also had 11 rebounds and 4 assists for North.

Chris Davis Jr., Sun Prairie East
Davis Jr. continues to score at a high rate. The senior guard and Arkansas State commit poured in 47 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists as East knocked off Madison West 101-84. He's right around 150 points away from 2,000 career points.

Zay Mitchell, Oshkosh North
Another day, another 30-plus point performance for the Iowa State commit. This time, Mitchell cruised to 35 points and 10 rebounds as North downed Oshkosh West 84-47.

Jace Paul, Alma Center Lincoln
Paul did all he could to keep Lincoln in the game with fellow undefeated Osseo-Fairchild. The senior guard was 14 of 23 from the field and had 34 points, though it wasn't enough as Osseo won 85-75.

Brody Thornton, Menomonie
Thornton was on his target in the Mustang's 71-67 win over River Falls. The senior had a game high 25 points while going 7 of 11 from beyond the arc.

Madison La Follette 88, Sun Prairie West 86
West was led by a trio of players that were tough to stop despite the Wolves loss. Casey Wambach had 18 points and 20 rebounds. Tavian Crawford added 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Tyler Haney led the Wolves with 26 points and 10 rebounds.

Drew Murphy, Verona
Murphy and teammate Cameron Williams were tough guards as Verona topped Big Eight foe Middleton 85-69. Murphy, who will likely become the school's all-time leading scorer this season, finished with a game high 32 points. Williams added 28.

Thursday, December 12

Amari Allen, Ashwaubenon
Allen has been nearly impossible to stop during the early parts of this season and that trend continued in an 81-74 win over FRCC foe Bay Port. In his fourth game back in the state, the Alabama commit scored 30-plus points for the third time, pouring in 37.

Zeke Sawall, Brookfield East
East took home an impressive 74-58 win over Bradley Tech and Sawall had a career day. The junior guard netted a career high 32 points in the win.

Reagan Flickinger, Clinton
Flickinger continues his hot start to his senior year as he poured in 31 points in a 64-50 win over Brodhead. He's averaging over 24 points per game through four contests.

Jaxon Keepers, Crandon
Though it was a blowout 89-21 victory over Elcho, Keepers led the Cardinals from his point guard position. He had a team high 23 points while adding 11 assists, 6 steals, and 4 rebounds.

West Allis Central 90, Dominican 71
In a matchup of two top ten teams in their respective divisions, West Allis Central took home this impressive win. Dominican was undefeated and had scored 100 points in two of its three victories. The Central defense did a great job of containing the Knight offense.

Caleb Peplinski, Hustisford
A herculean effort by Peplinski was not enough for Hustisford in the 66-59 loss to Washington County Home School. He recorded another double-double in the defeat, scoring 32 points and adding 18 rebounds. Defensively he had four blocks and three steals.

Lucas Haemmerle, Pacelli
Haemmerle was feeling it from deep as Pacelli took home a 30-point win over Wild Rose. The senior guard had 29 points and went 6 of 9 from deep. He added 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals, filling the stat sheet.

Ayden Phillips, Almond-Bancroft
The Eagles needed a record-breaking night from Phillips in order to secure a 68-61 win over Pittsville. The senior big man poured in 46 points for Almond-Bancroft, and every single one was needed in the victory.

Jett Rogowski, Wittenberg-Birnamwood
Rogowski led the Chargers to a 76-64 win over Shiocton. The senior lead guard scored 30 or more points for the third time in four games, filling up the stat sheets along the way. In this one, Rogowski had a game high 30 points.

Ellsworth 67, Altoona 66
This game was one of the wilder ones I've seen in a while, with three lead changes in the final ten seconds, all off made three-point shots. Ellsworth junior Gavin Klos hit a three from the top of the key to give Ellsworth a one-point lead with 9.6 seconds left in the game. With .8 on the clock, Altoona senior Myles Sinette buried a triple from the left wing to go up two. Enter the beautifully executed pass and catch by Ellsworth from senior Nash Kuhl to junior George Rohl to hit the game-winner shown above.

Friday, December 13

JT Schlaefer, Assumption
Schlaefer needed all 31 of his points to help lead Assumption to a 76-66 win over Chequamegon. It was a career high for the junior lead guard who added seven rebounds and five assists. Logan Nystrom added 20 points, making six of ten from three for the Royals.

Blake Bradley, Ripon
Bradley has been a bright spot as a freshman with the Ripon boys team this season. Despite an 0-5 start to the season, Bradley is averaging 19.6 points per game in his first year of varsity hoops. Friday in a 91-63 loss to Berlin, Bradley had a career high 28 points on 12 of 24 shooting.

Wilson Scherer, West Allis Hale
Scherer recorded his second 30-point game despite the Huskies 88-73 loss to Brookfield East. The senior guard had 32 points in the victory and is averaging 21.8 points per game over the first six contests.

Cooper Jesperson, Eau Claire Memorial
Jesperson inched closer to the 1,000 point mark in the Old Abe's 74-52 win over New Richmond. The 6-3 senior guard poured in 35 points and is now 64 away from that milestone. Teammate Wesley Mboga added 20 points in the victory.

Jaxson Moss, Racine Park
Park is a very good team and a contender in Division 2 this season behind strong defense and a balanced scoring attack. Moss is a versatile player for the Panthers, both offensively and defensively. In the Panther's 66-60 win over Franklin, Moss had 25 points and 10 rebounds while adding three steals and a block defensively.

Plymouth 71, Kewaskum 68
In a battle of two East Central teams, the stars from each squad showed out in this one. For Plymouth, Kayden Schultz led the Panthers with 30 points while Max Hill added 20 points, going 6 of 10 from three. For Kewaskum, Zach Behn had 31 points and 10 rebounds.

Talon Scheithauer, Rib Lake
Fifteen seconds left, down two to Marathon, and toes on the three-point line, Scheithauer didn't hesitate in stepping up, taking, and making the would-be game winner for Rib Lake. The Redmen knocked off Marathon 55-54.

Nicolet 78, Oshkosh North 63
In the top matchup of the night between two top five teams in their respective divisions at the 60Eight Basketball Tournament, this game turned out to be a showcase for Nicolet. David Bolden led the Knights with 20 points while Rashaad Davis, Ja'Meir Hayfort, and Carter Zuithoff all scored in double figures.

Matt Buckman, Cambridge
Buckman poured in a career high as Cambridge's offense hummed to a 104-78 win over Poynette. The Hillsdale commit had 40 points in the win, his first 40-point game of his career.

Loyal 62, Spencer 60
There must be magic when it comes to Loyal's Bryce Deegan and a Zaleski Sports broadcast. For the second time this season, Deegan had a game-winner for the Greyhounds. With less than two seconds left, he elevated above the defenders in the lane and netted the game-winner shown above.

Aiden Hawkinson, Waupun
Hawkinson was feeling it Friday night, as the senior wing had a career night in the Warrior's 86-75 win over Winneconne. Hawkinson scored a career best 50 points in the victory and is averaging over 35 points per game through four contests. The senior wing went 14 of 24 from the field including 10 of 16 from three-point range.

For Winneconne in the loss, Parker Ingles did his best to go toe-to-toe with Hawkinson, finishing with 43 points while connecting on 7 of 12 from beyond the arc.

Jack Kohnen, Slinger
Kohnen continues to impress in his sophomore season, scoring in bunches and effecting the game in multiple ways for the Owls. Slinger scored an 81-48 victory over West Bend East Friday night as Kohnen poured in 30 points for the first time this season. Freshman and younger brother of Jack, Joey Kohnen had 15 for Slinger.

Wisconsin Lutheran 69, Whitnall 67
Wisco needed a little late game magic to secure its 34th straight victory and improve to 4-0 on the season. With less than five seconds left, freshman Kinston Knueppel threw a beauty of a full-court pass that junior Zavier Zens high-pointed, came down with, and scored the game winning layup. Zens finished with 23 points on the night on 10 of 12 shooting. 

Carter Cherney, Cameron
Cherney recorded his third double-double in four games to start his senior year as Cameron knocked off Ashland 69-38. The 6-4 forward had a game high 25 points in the win, adding 18 rebounds and four assists.

Gavin Gores, Cumberland
Gores 35 points wasn't enough in Cumberland's 68-66 loss to Barron. He went eight of ten from the free throw line, though struggled from beyond the arc. Gores dominated the glass as well, hauling in 15 rebounds.

Isaiah Lomax, Elkhorn
Lomax was dominant down low, keeping Elkhorn in the game though the Elks fell to Beloit Memorial 72-71. Lomax had a game hand career high 32 points in the game, adding an eye-popping 21 rebounds.

Carter Korff, Sheboygan Falls
Korff was a huge reason why Falls took home a 77-66 win over Kiel on Friday night. The senior lead guard filled the stat sheet and recorded a triple double with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. He struggled from the field, but Korff went 12 of 14 from the free throw line. Teammate Sam Scheibl added a game high 28 points.

Saturday, December 14

Brooks Hinson, Marshfield
Marshfield fell for the second time this season, losing to Brookfield Central 62-53. However, Hinson did lead all scorers with 25 points in defeat. With that performance, the senior guard became Marshfield's all-time leading scorer as he sits at 1,191 career points.

Mikey White, Kenosha Bradford
White was electric, fueling Bradford to a 67-60 overtime win over Manitowoc Lincoln at the Hali Lannan Memorial Showcase at Grafton High School. The sophomore guard who has a D1 offer from Arkansas State, netted a career high 36 points in the victory.

Delvito Velazquez, Messmer
Velazquez continues to torch opposing defenses, doing so to the tune of 37 points in Messmer's 91-63 win over Watertown Luther Prep. Velazquez made six of ten shots from beyond the arc.

Mount Horeb 79, Lake Mills 76
This game posted two top five teams against one another in a non-conference tilt. Lake Mills played without senior star AJ Bender, who was out with an ankle injury. The billing lived up to the hype regardless, as this game was won by three free throws with under five seconds by Mount Horeb's Josh Manchester. The junior standout finished with a game high 36 points while Zach Maguire added 17 and Alex Chapman had 10 for the Vikings. Lake Mills go 21 points from Brady Benish and 19 and 15 points from Ty Schaefer and Tyler Wollin.

Fort Atkinson 55, Oregon 53
Fort Atkinson had a very impressive week this week, getting two huge wins in the Badger-Large conference. After knocking off undefeated Beaver Dam 71-40 on Tuesday, the Blackhawks traveled to Oregon to take on the undefeated Panthers. Fort came away with a two point win to improve to 2-0 in the Badger-Large conference.

Xzavion Mitchell, Oshkosh North
It's been nearly impossible to slow down the senior Mitchell this season, as the Iowa State commit has dominated the games he's played in. That was the story in the Spartan's 74-54 win over Middleton, where Mitchell poured in a game high 38 points. In doing so, Mitchell surpassed the 2,000 point mark in his prep career, an impressive feat.
