Triple Threat Athlete of the Week: Brooke Stenklyft, Cambridge

The Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an honor given on WisSports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state. Players are recognized each week on WSN, with a boys and girls winner of the Pat Richter Award at the end of the season to the best three-sport athlete of the year.

The Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is presented by the U.S. Marine Corps. The award recognizes student athletes who embody the spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and discipline across multiple sports. The mission of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Milwaukee is to find qualified men and women in Wisconsin and the surrounding area interested in becoming a United States Marine. Marines maintain the legacy of the Marine Corps by winning our nations battles and returning to their communities as quality citizens whether they are active duty or reservist. The coveted title of Marine applies only to those who graduate from the Recruit Depots or Officer Candidate School. RS Milwaukee will provide any qualified man or woman the opportunity to attend the training required to become a Marine - Enlisted or Officer.

Volleyball Honors: Four-year varsity performer for the Blue Jays... second-team all-Capitol South as a sophomore and junior... first-team all-conference as a senior... team MVP as a sophomore and junior... team captain as a sophomore, junior, and senior... team leader in kills and aces for two seasons... as a senior, compiled 130 kills, 135 digs, and 41 aces... coached by Kendra Ziarnik... 

Basketball Honors: Four-year starter for the Blue Jays... second-team all-Capitol South as a freshman... first-team all-conference as a sophomore and junior... broke the program's single-season scoring record as a sophomore, scoring 510 points (20.4 ppg)... junior year she broke her record, scoring 546 points (20.2 ppg)... WBCA honorable mention all-state as a sophomore and junior... team captain as a sophomore, junior, and senior... named team's most improved player as a freshman, and team's MVP as a sophomore and junior... coached by WBCA Hall of Fame head coach Doug Pickarts... the 6-0 wing/forward is averaging 25.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.1 steals per game for the 3-4 Blue Jays so far this season... currently has 1,481 points and 694 rebounds in her career... committed to play for head coach Keri Carollo at NCAA Division III UW-Whitewater... 

Softball Honors: Carried a .307 batting average and a .967 fielding percentage last year for the Blue Jays... she joined the team last season after not playing for eight years... low numbers and a new challenge were reasons for returning to the sport... coached by Dean Freeland... 

Favorite Sport (and why): "My favorite sport is basketball and I have been playing it since I was five years old. I dedicated a lot of time to basketball over the past few years and have been playing AAU since 4th grade."

Best Part of High School Sports (and why): "The best part about high school sports is making new connections with people in each sports season. Making memories with my teammates has definitely been one of my favorite parts about playing sports."

Best Advice from a Coach: "My former AAU coach, Ken Fenske, has taught me always to give 100% effort, and it’s the 'little' things that matter. For example, going for every rebound, making the extra pass, and playing good defense. I appreciate Coach Fenske for always supporting and pushing me to be my best."

Most Memorable Moment in High School Sports: "I got the opportunity to play basketball and volleyball with my older sister during my freshman year. I also have a sister that is a freshman this year in the basketball program so I get to enjoy a season with her. Also, winning a regional title in basketball last year."

Best Part of Playing Three Sports: "The best part about playing three sports is having the opportunity to form great connections and memories with my teammates throughout the years. I also like always staying busy and having something to do."

Most Difficult Part of Playing Three Sports: "The most difficult part of playing three sports is balancing academics with sports. I feel it’s important to maintain a good GPA while playing sports."

Favorite Opponent (and why): "My favorite opponent is Deerfield because it’s our school rivalry. There’s always a large crowd and the energy is unmatched."

Favorite Professional Team: Green Bay Packers

Favorite College Team: University of North Carolina 

Cumulative GPA: 3.8

Toughest Individual You’ve Competed Against (and why): "I have come across many great players but I would have to say, Meg Decker. Meg’s defense has been the best I have faced and a former AAU teammate of mine."

Most Admired High School Teammates: "I have been playing basketball with Haley Bristol since middle school. She has always been positive and uplifting. She continues to be competitive and outgoing."

College Plans: "I plan to attend UW-Whitewater and continue my basketball career."

Activities Outside of Sports: "I enjoy going to the lake and hanging out with my friends and family."

Favorite Movie: The Peanut Butter Falcon
