Athlete of the Week Nominees: December 30 - January 5

Julianne Bradford, Bay Area Ice Bears

Bradford is a key piece for the Bay Area Ice Bears girls hockey team that is 12-1-0 and won two games last week to kick off 2025. The senior forward netted two goals and assisted on two more in a 7-5 victory over Gentry Academy on Friday. She copied that performance in a 6-0 win over Beaver Dam, finishing with the two goals and two assists. Bradford, a De Pere student-athlete, has 9 goals and 12 assists in 12 games this season.

Rowan Klesmit, Neenah

Klesmit has scored at a high rate to start her junior season, averaging 26.3 points per game through the Rocket's first 11 games. Last week she continued that trend. In a 73-70 loss to Monona Grove, the 5-5 guard had a team high 23 points, going a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line. Klesmit then had a career day in Neenah's 87-53 win over Oshkosh North on Friday. She poured in a career high 37 points on 14 of 20 shooting. She again was perfect from the free throw line, going 4 of 4, while also connecting on 5 of 8 from beyond the arc.

Carter Moesch, Bonduel

Moesch had a career day for the undefeated Bonduel boys basketball team in the 88-61 win over Reedsville on Friday. The sophomore guard is one of five Bears to average double-figures in points this season and in the victory, he scored a new career high. Moesch was 12 of 17 from the field and had 33 points for the Bears. He was lights out from deep, going 8 of 11 from three-point range. Moesch fleshed out his performance with four rebounds, three assists, and three blocks.

Camden Schurk, Pacelli

Schurk set a record this past Friday in the Cardinal's 67-56 win over Assumption. The senior wing and son of head coach John Schurk finished with a game high 36 points for Pacelli on 16 of 29 shooting. He added 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals, filling the stat sheet in the victory. In the process of the game, Schurk became the school's all-time leading scorer, as he has over 1,300 career points.

Alahna Simpson, La Crosse Central

Simpson and the Riverhawks have started the 2024-25 season 7-3 and got a 53-43 win over Marshfield in its lone game of the season last week. The 6-0 junior guard poured in 30 points in the win, going 11 of 22 from the field and 8 of 11 from the free throw line. Simpson added seven rebounds, two steals, and a block. For the season, she's averaging over 23 points per game. Last week, Simpson surpassed 1,000 career points.
