Madison Memorial junior Avery Blue has been selected as the Box Out Sports Athlete of the Week for the week of January 6-12 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There were 5,047 total votes this week. Blue topped all vote getters with 1,613 votes. Franklin's Ben Brown finished in second with 1,445 votes.
Blue broke two school records as Memorial cruised to an 84-29 win over Madison East. The junior guard scored a new school record 34 points in the win. She was 12 of 19 from the field and 10 of 15 from three. The ten made three point shots also sets a new record for Madison Memorial. Blue added seven steals, five rebounds, and three assists. The most impressive part of this performance, she did it all in the first half.
This past Tuesday, Blue helped lead Memorial to a 76-53 win over Middleton. She finished with 15 points while adding seven steals, four assists, and three rebounds.
