Ashwaubenon (9-3; D2 #9) at West De Pere (8-4)
On a night where the schedule was already slim and weather has forced many postponements, this stands out as the top game on the docket. The Jaguars are coming off a strong win over Sheboygan North and have another quality opponent here with the Phantoms. West De Pere has just one loss since early December, a defeat to Division 1, top-ranked Wisconsin Lutheran. Both teams have ample talent, and are playing well as January comes to a close.

Note: Previews are being written before all postponements/cancellations have been announced

Stanley-Boyd (9-4) at Bloomer (7-3) - POSTPONED
A matchup between the top two teams in the Cloverbelt-West will do battle in this one dependent on the weather. Both of these teams have just one loss in league play and the winner will have a leg up going into the second round of conference play.

Onalaska (11-3; D2 #6) at La Crosse Central (7-3) - POSTPONED
One of the better rivalries on the western side of the state, these two teams have done battle at the top of the Mississippi Valley Conference for the better part of the past decade and a half. The Hilltoppers and Riverhawks have battled for conference supremacy and in the playoffs plenty of times. This matchup is between two of the four teams with just one loss in the league standings.

Platteville (10-3) at Mount Horeb (12-1; D2 #1) - POSTPONED
Mount Horeb is coming off its first loss of the season, suffered at the Midwest Players Classic to out-of-state Caledonia. Caledonia did a good job of running junior wing Josh Manchester off the three-point line. Platteville is well coached under Mike Huser and the Hillmen do a good job of pressing the issue defensively. If they can do that with Manchester in this one, Platteville should compete with the top ranked team in Division 2.

Ashwaubenon (9-3; D2 #9) at Notre Dame (9-2; D2 #7) - POSTPONED
It'll be a gauntlet of a few weeks for Ashwaubenon as the Jaguars played De Pere two weeks ago and lost by one. They beat Sheboygan North last Friday but also play a very good West De Pere team the night before this one. The first matchup between these two teams was a three-point win by Notre Dame at Ashwaubenon where five different Tritons scored in double figures. I expect game two between these FRCC teams to be just as competitive as the first.

River Ridge (12-1; D5 #4) at Potosi (9-2)
River Ridge suffered its first loss of the season last week, falling to fellow Six-Rivers West foe Highland. Potosi fell to that same Highland team by three early in the season but are on a seven-game win streak. These are two very talented and well-coached Division 5 teams that will finish their regular seasons against one another.

Roncalli (10-1; D4 #8) at Sheboygan Lutheran (11-2; D5 #1) - POSTPONED
Sheboygan Lutheran came into last week undefeated, but suffered back-to-back losses to Kohler and Laconia. Things don't get any easier for the Crusaders in this matchup with a ranked Roncalli team. Both teams play unselfishly offensively and make the extra passes to set up great shots. Roncalli averages over 18 assists per game while Lutheran averages over 14. It appears whichever team can contain the other the best will come out of this one victorious.

Waterford (13-2) at Westosha Central (7-6) - POSTPONED
Waterford sits one game ahead of Westosha in the Southern Lakes standings as both teams will be playing their final game in the first round of league play. A win for Waterford puts the Wolverines two games ahead of the rest of the league with seven conference matchups left. The Falcons need a win to keep pace.

Wednesday, January 22

Martin Luther (10-4) at Dominican (8-4)
Two quality Metro Classic teams with two conference losses each will do battle in this postponed game from Tuesday. Since a three game losing streak in late December/early January, Martin Luther has rattled off three straight wins behind its balanced offense that has had five players score at least 19 points in a game. In Dominican's last 7 games, the Knights have alternated wins and losses. With a win, Dominican will have its first win streak since December 26.

Middleton (7-5) at Madison Memorial (10-2; D1 #9)
Postponed from Tuesday, this Big Eight conference matchup is the top game for Wednesday night. Middleton is 5-0 since the return of UW commit and 7-0 senior Will Garlock. It's not an understatement that Garlock's return has effected the Big Eight conference race in a dramatic way as the Cardinals now sit just one game back in the standings.

Lake Country Lutheran (11-2; D3 #6) at Messmer (8-4)
Lake Country is one of three undefeated teams atop the Midwest Classic conference standings. The Lightning's two losses are by a combined six points and they've been dominant in their wins. Messmer on the other hand is looking for its first statement win of the season. Ben Hailey's group is playing well, and has a chance to knock off one of the top dogs in the conference.

Racine Lutheran (14-0; D3 #3) at Racine Park (10-1; D2 #4)
This has the billing to be the best game of the week and was postponed a day due to yesterday's weather in the state. Lutheran is one of the six remaining undefeated teams and have a very balanced and efficient squad on both sides of the ball. Park also is extremely talented offensively, but has put on defensive gems like in the last win over Brookfield East where the Panthers held the Spartans to just 45 points.

Brookfield East (10-4) at West Allis Central (9-4)
Another game postponed from yesterday makes this one of the best Wednesday slate of games in the season. East lost two games to two ranked teams last week with a win over Menomonee Falls squeezed in there. Joe Rux has the Spartans tied at the top of the Greater Metro standings, led by TJ Platz and Zeke Sawall. West Allis on the other hand knocked off Germantown, one of the teams that beat East, on Saturday. Bulldog junior Yusef Gray Jr. committed to Iowa State over the weekend and is the team's top scorer.
