Rib Lake (9-3) at Auburndale (12-1)
This game features of matchup of the top teams on either side of the Marawood conference. Rib Lake comes in on a four game win streak and is led by junior Jed Henderson, son of head coach Todd Henderson, in scoring. Auburndale recorded back-to-back wins over Marathon and Stratford to claim its spot atop the South standings, as senior Blake Raab is averaging 18.9 points on an Eagles team that is built on its defensive effort.
Southwestern (12-3; D5 #4) vs Abundant Life Christian (9-2; D5 #9) @Fiserv Forum
Two ranked teams in Division 5 will play at the home of the Bucks in one of the best small-school matchups in the state this week. Southwestern is coming off a win over Division 4, top-ranked Mineral Point last Friday. Abundant Life has won six straight games, scoring 70-plus points in three of those contests. Both of these teams are guard-oriented squads so I wouldn't be surprised if we see a high-scoring affair at the Fiserv.
Onalaska (11-3) at Holmen (10-3)
These two teams played the first conference game in the MVC back on December 19th. Holmen came out the winner 73-68 behind 23 points from Alex Berget. Four teams in the MVC have just one conference loss, including these two, making this contest meaningful in regards to standings.
Bonduel (14-0; D4 #1) at Iola-Scandinavia (10-3)
Bonduel won the first matchup between these teams back on December 6th by 28 point. It's also the only game where the Thunderbirds allowed over 54 points. Bonduel has been one of the most impressive teams in the state regardless of division and are extremely balanced in its starting five. Can Iola stop the Bears offense in this one and make it back-to-back weeks the top team in Division 4 takes a loss?
Wisconsin Lutheran (12-1; D1 #1) at Pewaukee (9-3)
The last time these two rivals faced each other was last March, at the Kohl Center, in the WIAA Division 2 State Championship, and Kon Knueppel and Nick Janowski were still in high school. Wisco won and ruined Pewaukee's chance at a four-peat. Fast forward to January 22, 2025 and both teams have moved up to division 1 and are both undefeated in Woodland-West play. Wisco has been dominant this season, minus its last game against out-of-state Breck, the Vikings lone loss. Pewaukee has lost three games, two of those to top 3 teams. This will likely shake out to be another great installment in one of the state's top rivalries.
Hillsboro (10-2) at Royall (12-0; D5 #1)
These two teams have had plenty of great battles over the years in the Scenic Bluffs and will play each other for the first time this season having swept the rest of the conference through the first round of league games. Royall is 12-0 and the top ranked team in Division 5. Hillsboro lost its only two game to non-conference opponents at the Adams-Friendship Holiday Tournament. This is the best game in the Scenic Bluffs conference up to this point in the season and will give the winner a leg up going into the second half of league play.
Living Word Lutheran (10-3) at Brookfield Academy (12-1)
These two teams are a little slept on out of the Midwest Classic conference and are two extremely talented squads in the southeast part of the state. Brookfield is a one point loss in early December from being undefeated on the year, having put together an 11-game win streak. Living Word's three losses are to quality opponents, including two top ten schools. A win by either team should make a statement not just in the Midwest Classic.
Wauwatosa West (10-4; D2 #8) at Brookfield East (10-4)
East was one of seven ranked Division 1 teams to lose last week, dropping two games to Germantown and Racine Park. The Spartans have a tough game Wednesday against West Allis Central and have had a gauntlet of a schedule the past eight games. Tosa West also fell last week to a surging Brookfield Central squad. The Trojans have played an equally challenging schedule, making this matchup one between two well-tested squads.
Notre Dame (9-2; D2 #6) at De Pere (11-1; D1 #2)
It seems almost every league night the past few weeks in the FRCC there's been a top ten matchup, as four teams are ranked from the league. These two squads have yet to square off this season and will be a measuring stick for Notre Dame. De Pere's only loss is to the top ranked team in Division 1, Wisconsin Lutheran and the Redbirds have already beat the other FRCC contenders Ashwaubenon and Sheboygan North through the first half of the conference schedule.
Appleton North (9-4) at Hortonville (10-2; D1 #8)
The Fox Valley Association is widely considered one of the top conferences in the league and these teams have been beating each other up all year. North and Hortonville are two of the five contenders for a league title this year.
Lakeside Lutheran (10-2; D3 #5) at Lodi (9-3)
Two very good and undefeated Capitol-North teams will square off in this conference tilt Friday night. Lakeside is coming off a one point loss to ranked Brookfield Central but is led by one of the top junior big men in the state in Wes Rahn. Lodi is two weeks removed from a four-point loss to Dominican and is led by junior Theo Traeder, one of the top shooters in Division 3.
Greendale (9-5) at New Berlin West (8-5)
These two teams may be close to out of the race for the Woodland-West title, but make no mistake, both are quality teams in Division 2. Devin Isaj has been on a tear for Greendale as of late, having scored 30-plus points in three of the past four games. Both teams are coming off back-to-back losses and looking to right the ship.
Barneveld (10-3) at Potosi (10-2)
Potosi picked up a massive win over Six Rivers-West foe River Ridge on Tuesday and has another chance to get a win over a quality opponent in this one with Barneveld. The Golden Eagles fell to that same River Ridge team by 22 in early January and do play on the weaker side of the Six Rivers conference. Barneveld has a chance to get a statement win, while Potosi needs a win to keep pace with Highland and River Ridge in the West.
Dominican (8-4) at Racine St. Catherine's (10-3; D3 #8)
These two teams have had great battles over the year in the Metro Classic and Friday will be the first of two matchups for them this year. Dominican will be coming off a game with Martin Luther on Wednesday while St. Cat's hasn't played since Saturday. There will be plenty of talent on the floor in this one and whichever team can corral each other's skilled ball handlers will likely have the upper hand.
Fort Atkinson (8-5) vs McFarland (8-4) in Badger Challenge at Monona Grove High School
A matchup between the current second place teams on either side of the Badger conference will be the penultimate game of the day in the Badger Challenge. Garrett Crull, Ben Forbes, and Eli Krueger form a lanky trio for McFarland that are all averaging double-digit points. On the other hand Brennan Dempsey, Owen Geiger, and Lakyn Hintz serve as a formidable trio for Fort.
Waunakee (13-2; D1 #4) vs Mount Horeb (12-1; D2 #1) in Badger Challenge at Monona Grove High School
The nightcap of the Badger Challenge is between the top two teams on either side of the conference, and both are top-four teams in their respective divisions. Both competed last at the Midwest Players Classic last weekend with Waunakee getting an impressive win over Marshfield and Mount Horeb falling to a very good Caledonia squad. Waunakee is physical and fundamental with good size on its wings. Mount Horeb relies heavily on junior guard Josh Manchester. A week of preparation for both teams should have both squads ready for this crossover matchup.
Fond du Lac (9-5) vs Germantown (9-3) in Warhawk Invite at Germantown High School
The final game in the Warhawk Invite pins two teams against each other from two of the best conferences in the state. Fond du Lac is tied atop the FVA standings and has played incredible defense this season. Germantown is tied atop the Greater Metro standings and can score the ball well with a balanced attack.
Saint Mary's Springs (11-3) at Reedsville (10-4) at JustAGame Fieldhouse
Both of these teams are riding a four-plus game win streak coming into this non-conference, neutral site game. Springs has been led all season by senior forwards Emmitt Huhn and Noah Moul. Reedsville junior Ben Prochnow is the catalyst from his point guard position, averaging 17.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
Edgerton (9-3; D3 #7) at Lakeside Lutheran (10-2; D3 #5)
This game features two ranked teams in Division 3 that could very well meet at some point in the playoffs, as they are in the same sub-sectional. Lakeside will have a battle with Lodi the night before this one and that could effect the legs of the Warriors. Edgerton on the other hand recently fell to Milton, but will have a tune-up game with Whitewater, also the night before.
Southwestern (12-3; D5 #4) at North Crawford (12-0; D5 #2)
A matchup between the second and fourth ranked team in the state in Division 5 on a Saturday afternoon? Sign me up. Southwestern will be playing its second game against a top ten team in D5 on the week after playing Abundant Life at the Fiserv on Thursday. If they win that one, they'll have an opportunity to knock off three straight ranked teams in this one, including a second undefeated squad. This will easily be the toughest matchup up to this point for Crawford this season. A win would solidify its ranking.
Fox Valley Lutheran (8-3) at West Salem (10-3)
Fox Valley Lutheran will travel nearly three hours across the state for this early afternoon matchup. Could that effect how the Foxes come out of the gate? Potentially. However, both squads are well-coached and play fundamental basketball.
Belleville (4-8) at Mineral Point (11-1; D4 #2)
Saturday has the potential to be a really special day for the Lindsey family at Mineral Point. Eli, a current junior with the Pointers, is just two points away from joining the 1,000 point club. That is something his older brother Eli, and older sister Mallory have both accomplished at Mineral Point. Also on Saturday, his father Matt will be inducted into the school's Hall of Fame.
