At the WIAA Conference Realignment Task Force meeting on Thursday, the group heard appeals from schools and provided amended plans for football-only changes for 11-player football that would take effect in the 2026 season for a two-year cycle.

Schools and conferences that are directly affected by the amended realignment considerations have the opportunity to appeal the proposed changes to the Board of Control at its March 11th meeting, where the group can approve, reject, or remand all or parts of the proposal back to the Task Force for further consideration.

There were no changes to the proposed 8-player football realignment.

In 11-Player Football, several changes were proposed from the revised plans that were released in January. Please note the changes noted below are those from the last realignment plan, not those that are changes from the current (2024-2025) alignments.

11-Player Impacts

  • In the last proposal, the Badger-Large and Badger-Small would have been separate, seven-team conferences. In the newest proposal, Watertown would return to the Badger-Large from the Badger-Small. Edgewood and McFarland would move from the Rock Valley to the Badger-Small. This would make both divisions of the Badger eight team leagues, removing mandatory conference crossover game for each team.
  • Two Rivers and the Kohler co-op would flip, with Two Rivers returning to the North Eastern and the Kohler co-op moving back into the Eastern Wisconsin, their current designations.
  • Edgerton, Jefferson, and Portage would flip from the Rock Valley to the Capitol. Big Foot, Clinton, and turner would switch from the Capitol to the Rock Valley. The Capitol and Rock Valley would be seven-team leagues with a mandatory crossover.
  • Kettle Moraine would move back into the Classic Eight, its current home, from the Greater Metro.
  • Catholic Memorial would move out of the Greater Metro and into the Parkland, it's current conference. Waukesha West would also move out of the Greater Metro to the Parkland.
  • Wisconsin Lutheran would move from the North Shore to the Parkland.
  • The Parkland becomes an eight-team league and no longer paired with the Woodland for crossovers.
  • Marquette and Sussex Hamilton would move back from the Classic Eight to the Greater Metro, their current home.
  • The Classic Eight and Greater Metro would be six-team leagues, with two mandatory crossovers for each team.
  • Nicolet would move from the North Shore to the Glacier Trails. The Glacier Trails would become an eight team league and no longer paired with the North Shore.
  • Wauwatosa East and Wauwatosa West would move from the Parkland to the North Shore, which would become a seven-team league and be paired with the Woodland for a mandatory crossover.
  • Instead of Milwaukee Reagan moving from the Milwaukee-Richardson to the Southeast, the Huskies would return to the City Conference and Milwaukee King would instead be moved to the Southeast Conference. The Milwaukee-Richardson would continue to be a seven-team league with no paired conference, meaning they would play just seven conference games.
