Monday, February 10

Luther (14-4) at Aquinas (17-2)
These two private school teams in the La Crosse area have had a lot of success come playoff time over the past few seasons. These two teams have also had plenty of good battles between the two. Luther is led by senior duo Will Huelskamp and Synclair Byus, both averaging over 14 points per game. Aquinas gets production from a mix of seniors (Treyton Bahr & Brayden Young) and not seniors (Logan Becker, Calvin Bahr, & Finely Strom).

Abundant Life Christian (12-5; D5 #10) at Cambridge (15-2)
These are two quality small school teams that are playing a late season non-conference game that will only make each team stronger and better prepared come playoff time. Abundant Life has struggled in games against top teams outside of the Trailways-East, with losses to Marshall, Southwestern, and Pardeeville, though they do have a win over Oakfield. Cambridge has losses to Lake Mills and Aquinas and have rolled behind first-year head coach Alex Raney and Hillsdale commit Matt Buckman.

Lake Mills (16-3; D3 #3) at Edgerton (15-3; D3 #6)
This is a marquee, non-conference game between two of the top teams in Division 3 in the state. There is a very real likelihood that these two squads will find that their paths cross once again come playoff time currently are in the same sub-sectional in Division 3. Both squads have senior leadership, great coaches, and play a complimentary and balanced game of basketball. If this is a preview for a regional final or sectional semi-final, buckle up, because it should be a great one to tune in for.

Howards Grove (16-3; D4 #10) at Kiel (15-3)
Howards Grove has lost just one game in its last 13, while Kiel has lost just one of its last 12. Two strong playoff contenders in the northeastern part of the state, both teams have plenty of upperclassmen leadership that have been apart of successful squads in the past.

Seymour (14-4; D3 #9) at Notre Dame (14-3; D2 #8)
Another top ten non-conference game in the state pits two teams from the northeast against one another here. Seymour senior Kyler Marks averages 20.7 points per game and if he hits 26 in this one, will join the 1,000 point club. Notre Dame has six players that average over 7.5 points per game, led by seniors Andrew Rader and Adam Guyette.

Roncalli (15-1; D4 #3) at Southern Door (16-2)
Roncalli on average allows just 46.6 points per game to its opponents this season. Southern Door senior wing Drew Daoust averaged 31.6 points per game alone this season, but teammates Caden Pierre and Lauden Berg are both averaging over 14 points per game as well. The Jets ability to contain the Eagles offense could be the biggest determining factor in the outcome of this game.

Wausau East (14-4; 4-4 in WVC) at Stevens Point (12-7; 5-3 in WVC)
Two teams that came into this year with Wisconsin Valley Conference title aspirations will face off for the first time. Though both are likely out of the race with Marshfield being undefeated in the league, each team is looking to prime themselves for a deep playoff push. Point is coming off an impressive win over Sun Prairie East at the Deer District Prep Showcase on Saturday, while East lost to previously defeated Wisconsin Rapids in its most recent game.

Tuesday, February 11

Blair-Taylor (14-5; 11-4 in Dairyland-Small) at Alma Center Lincoln (15-4; 13-3 in Dairyland-Small)
These two teams played the first game back before Christmas with Blair coming away with a 66-61 victory. Neither team will likely catch Cochrane-Fountain City in the standings so this game won't play a part in that pursuit. However, with both being in the same Division 5 sub-sectional, the game could play an impact come seeding time.

Sun Prairie West (11-7) at Kettle Moraine (19-0; D1 #3)
Kettle Moraine has been one of the most impressive teams in the state and is one of just four remaining unbeaten teams. Senior wing Roman Thompson has had back-to-back 30-plus point games including in a win over Nicolet on Saturday in the Deer District Prep Showcase. West on the other hand has won five straight including wins over Madison Memorial, Verona, and Janesville Craig.

Ithaca (14-5; 7-3 in Ridge & Valley) at Kickapoo (13-6; 7-3 in Ridge & Valley)
North Crawford has all but clinched the Ridge & Valley title, sitting three games up on these two teams and Seneca. That means this league tilt means more for playoff seeding than anything. In a stacked Division 5 sub-sectional, each and every win means a path towards not meeting one of the top squads in an early regional matchup.

Marshall (14-4) at Lomira (14-3)
With Jake Broeske out for Lomira, this game is will be played on the perimeter as both teams boast teams deep at the guard position, but lacking in size. Jackson Goebel has stepped up in a big way for Lomira and has led the Lions in scoring most of the year. Marshall is led by brothers Miggins, senior Kenyon and sophomore Jaylen.

Pewaukee (11-6; 5-3 in Woodland-West) at New Berlin West (14-5; 6-3 in Woodland-West)
A battle between two strong Woodland-West squads takes shape here. Pewaukee is a senior and junior led group but lost back-to-back games against Greendale and a shocking one to New Berlin Eisenhower, giving the Lions their only conference win so far this season. West on the other hand has won six straight including a win over West Allis Central on Friday night.

D2 #3 Racine Park (17-1; 10-0 in Southeast) at D1 #9 Oak Creek (14-4; 7-3 in Southeast)
Park has gone flawless up to this point in the Southeast conference and is one of the most impressive teams in Division 2 with serious Kohl Center aspirations. The Panthers beat Oak Creek 69-53 in the first meeting behind a double-double from Jaxson Moss. For Oak Creek, they are coming off a loss to rival Franklin on Friday.

Plymouth (13-5) at Oostburg (14-5)
Both of these teams are playing well over the past few weeks and looking to continue that roll with a quality non-conference win over the other. This game will feature three of the most productive juniors in the state in terms of scoring. For Oostburg, both Cade Dirkse and Jamison Zavatchin average around twenty points per game and have crossed 1,000 in their careers. Kayden Schultz has also joined the 1,000 point club and is averaging 28.5 for Plymouth.

Dominican (13-5; 6-3 in Metro Classic) at D3 #4 Racine Lutheran (17-2; 9-1 in Metro Classic)
The first matchup between these two squads lived up to the hype as road four players in double figures scoring to a 77-76 win. Syracuse commit Aaron Womack III poured in 30 points while Zaihir Jones had 23 for Dominican. This is one of the better rematches left on the schedule across the state and will likely result in another buzzer-to-buzzer fight.

D2 #5 Ashwaubenon (13-5; 8-5 in FRCC) at Sheboygan North (15-5; 10-4 in FRCC)
Another rematch of FRCC teams that is one of the better games of the night in the state. The first matchup resulted in Ashwaubenon's first statement win of the season, behind 36 points from Amari Allen. However, the Jaguars are coming off back-to-back losses to De Pere and Pulaski last week. North has gone 4-4 since it started the season 11-1.

Darlington (14-5; 8-3 in SWAL) at D5 #4 Southwestern (17-4; 8-3 in SWAL)
Like some mentioned in Tuesday's slate, this is a game between two very good teams that may be out of contention for their league titles. The first matchup between these two squads was a 75-66 win for Darlington behind a balanced scoring attack that shot 36 free throws.

Waupun (13-5) at Wauwatosa West (13-6; D2 #10)
Junior wing Matthew Kloskey has come on strong over the past few weeks with Tosa West, making the big three for the Trojans harder to guard than originally thought. For Waupun, Aiden Hawkinson has been one of the top scorers in the state and has led the Warriors to sit atop the East Central standings.

D1 #1 Wisconsin Lutheran (18-1; 8-0 in Woodland-West) at West Allis Central (13-5; 6-3 in Woodland-West)
West Allis Central was our pick to win the West division of the Woodland conference during the preseason. Wisconsin Lutheran has all but clinched that title having gone 8-0 to this point. Wisco has a good mix of senior leadership, young talent on the wings, and good coaching. West Allis is led by a very talented younger group that includes Iowa State commit Yusef Gray Jr. and Max Jones.

D2 #6 Greenfield (18-1; 8-0 in Woodland-East) at Whitnall (11-7; 7-1 in Woodland-East)
Barring any upsets over the final few weeks of the year, this matchup determines whether Greenfield will win the Woodland-East outright or if these two squads will share the league crown. The first matchup back on December 19 was as dramatic as a game can get. With under three seconds left, Mason Stieber-Pinter stole an inbounds pass and knocked through a wild three-point shot to give Greenfield a one point win at the buzzer. Tuesday's contest has added stakes with the conference title in sights for both teams.
