Senior Boys Basketball Awards: Wing Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN Senior Basketball Awards. The finalists for the top senior wing have been selected. The winner will be announced the week after the state tournament.

Amari Allen, Ashwaubenon

Allen played just one year at Ashwaubenon, but it was an extremely impactful on. The 6-7 wing is fifth in the state in scoring the ball, averaging 34.1 points per game while shooting 57% from the field, 32% from three, and 79% from the free throw line. Allen also averaged 11.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game as he led Ashwaubenon to a 19-7 overall record. The Alabama commit scored or assisted on 72% of the made field goals by the Jaguars, the tops in the entire state. Allen was also named a first team All-FRCC athlete and a finalist for Mr. Basketball in Wisconsin.

Drew Daoust, Southern Door

Daoust will finish his prep career as one of the best scorers in Wisconsin in high school boys basketball history. The UW-Stevens Point commit sits at 3,068 career points, only the second player ever to score 3,000 in his prep career in the state. This season Daoust has averaged 32.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 3.4 steals per game. For his career, he has recorded 3,068 points, 291 made three point shots, 540 made free throws, 579 rebounds, and 385 assists.

Xzavion Mitchell, Oshkosh North

Mitchell led an Oshkosh North team that had its ups and downs all season, but are clicking now and playing in a sectional semifinal game on Thursday. The Iowa State commit is a four-year varsity starter and at the time of this article, has worked his way up to third on the all-time scoring list in the state, behind Daoust and Anthony Pieper. Mitchell sits at 2,735 career points with 604 made free throws, 880 rebounds, and 312 assists. This season the 6-7 wing is averaging 35.3 points per game which is second in the state. He's also tallying 9.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. Mitchell is one of six finalists for the coveted Mr. Basketball award in the state of Wisconsin.

Roman Thompson, Kettle Moraine

Thompson has been the leading scorer on one of the only two undefeated teams left in the state. The UW-Eau Claire wing has steadily improved year upon year, having been a four-year varsity contributor and nearly doubling his scoring output this season to 20.5 points per game. Thompson is sitting at 1,000 career points exactly going into the sectionals and was named the Classic Eight Offensive Player of the Year. Thompson has been a big key to the Lasers going to back-to-back state tournaments during his sophomore and junior campaigns and is leading Kettle Moraine this season in hopes for a third straight trip to Madison.

Aaron Womack III, Dominican

Womack is a four-year varsity starter with Dominican and had his best year in terms of scoring, rebounding, and facilitating the basketball. The 6-6 lanky wing is averaging 28.8 points while shooting 60/40/76. He's added 11.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.3 steals, and 2.8 blocks per game, filling stat sheets night after night. The Syracuse commit recorded 15 double-doubles this season and 34 in his career. He finished his prep playing career with 2,240 points, 814 rebounds, 332 assists, 216 blocks, and 164 steals per game. Womack is a finalist for the Mr. Basketball award in the state.
