The finalists for the top senior shooter have been selected. The winner will be announced the week after the state tournament.
Hailee Bauer, 5-7, G, Lourdes Academy
Bauer has led the Knights to their first WIAA State Tournament appearance since 2012. She was named WBCA all-state last season and took home honorable mention laurels as a sophomore. Hailee is tied for 4th in the state with 89 three-pointers made this season and has 294 in her career. She averages 18.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists (8th in the state), and 4.0 steals per contest for coach Ali Starr and the 24-5 Knights. Bauer has compiled 1,908 points, 501 rebounds, 510 assists, and 380 steals in her career. Lourdes Academy will play Barneveld in a D5 state semifinal.
Jordan Fenske, 5-10, G, Waukesha West
Fenske, a WBCA all-state selection as a junior, led the Wolverines to a Division 2 sectional final this season. The NCAA Division I Illinois State recruit connected on 50 of 118 from 3-point land as a senior and 192 for her career while shooting 41.8 percent. Fenske averaged 14.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game for coach Paul Darling and the 13-14 Wolverines. Jordan scored 1,175 points in her career.
Ameerah Grant, 5-7, G, Brown Deer
Grant, a WBCA all-state choice last season, averaged a state-best 39.5 points per game and is second in three-pointers with 93. She scored 50 or more in four games this season, including dropping a career-best 57 in a game. Ameerah also tallied 10.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 4.5 steals per contest for coach Donald Nelson and the 12-13 Falcons. Grant finished her career with 2,701 points (5th all-time) and 251 three-pointers, along with 689 rebounds, 257 assists, and 368 steals.
Samantha Hafferkamp, 5-8, G, Union Grove
Hafferkamp, an honorable mention WBCA all-state pick last season, helped lead the Broncos to a Division 2 sectional final. She is sixth in the state with 84 three-pointers made. Samantha tallied 17.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game for coach Rob Domagalski and the Broncos, which ended the year with a 25-3 record. Hafferkamp, a D-II UW-Parkside recruit, compiled 1,046 points and made 144 triples in her final two seasons.
Kate McGinnis, 5-9, G, Kimberly
McGinnis, a WBCA all-state selection last season, has helped lead the Papermakers to the Division 1 WIAA State Tournament. She is 46 of 131 (35.1%) from behind the arc. Kate averages 14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.7 steals per game for coach Dave Lepisto and the Papermakers, 27-1 heading into their D1 state semifinal versus Appleton East. McGinnis, a Division I Belmont University recruit, enters the state tournament with 1,297 points, 409 rebounds, 183 assists, 155 steals, and 218 three-pointers in her career.
Kristina Ouimette, 6-1, W, Lakeland
Ouimette, a finalist for Ms. Basketball, led the Thunderbirds to a D2 sectional semifinal. She is third in the state in scoring with 29.5 points per game and leads the state with 105 three-pointers made (41.8%). Kristina, a WBCA all-state choice last season, also averaged 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists,4.0 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game for coach and mother, Melissa Ouimette, and the 22-5 Thunderbirds. The Green Bay recruit scored at least 40 points in four games this season, including a career-best 49 points in a game. Kristina helped lead Lakeland to a D2 state tournament appearance as a sophomore. Ouimette finishes her career as a top 10 scorer in girls’ basketball history with 2,522 points and connected on 398 of 1049 from 3-point land, while also tallying 772 rebounds, 537 assists, 409 steals, and 239 blocks.
Rainey Welson, 5-10, G, Hortonville
Welson is a two-time WBCA all-state pick and Ms. Basketball finalist. She is sixth in the state in scoring with 26.4 points per game with a pair of 43-point performances and connected on 31 of 82 from behind the arc, playing in 16 games due to suffering a season-ending injury in late January. Rainey also averaged 5.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.4 steals per contest for coach A.C. Clouthier and the 17-9 Polar Bears, which reached a D1 regional final. The Maryland recruit helped lead Hortonville to a D1 state tournament appearance during her sophomore year. Welson finished her career with 2,046 points, 254 triples, 407 rebounds, 340 assists, and 252 steals.
