The finalists for the top senior post have been selected. The winner will be announced the week after the state tournament.
Eva Brooks, 6-1, Lena
Brooks was a WBCA all-state selection as a junior. The NCAA Division II Winona State recruit averaged 16.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.4 steals, and 3.7 blocks per game for coach Tim Goldschmidt and the 22-3 Wildcats. Brooks led Lena to a D5 state tournament appearance during her junior year. She finishes her career with 1,557 points, 1,146 rebounds, 286 assists, 256 steals, and 343 blocks.
Melena Glysch, 5-11, Muskego
Glysch has helped lead the Warriors to their first trip to the WIAA State Tournament in program history. The NCAA Division II Ferris State recruit averages 11.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest for coach Erik Loose and the 24-4 Warriors, which play Arrowhead in a D1 state semifinal. Glysch has compiled 944 points and 675 rebounds in her career.
Raegan Krueger, 6-1, Kimberly
Krueger has helped the Papermakers advance to the Division 1 state tournament. The NCAA Division II Minnesota Duluth recruit averages 12 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.4 steals per game for coach Dave Lepisto and Papermakers, 27-1 overall heading into their D1 state semifinal against Appleton East. Krueger has career totals of 808 points and 529 rebounds.
Princess Nwachukwu, 6-0, Madison Memorial
Nwachukwu led the Spartans to a Division 1 regional final. She tallied 14.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game for coach Marques Flowers and the 20-6 Spartans. Nwachukwu finished her career with 808 points, 674 rebounds, 148 steals, and 130 blocks in three seasons.
Addison Schliewe, 6-2, Sheboygan Falls
Schliewe, an honorable mention WBCA all-state pick last season, led the Falcons to a Division 3 regional final. The NCAA Division I University of St. Thomas recruit averaged 18 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.2 steals, and 2.1 blocks per contest for coach Paul Houwers and the 22-4 Falcons. Addison compiled 1,642 points, 989 rebounds, 237 assists, 211 steals, and 203 blocks.
Maren Schmotzer, 6-2, Edgewood
Schmotzer has helped the Crusaders reach the WIAA State Tournament the last two seasons, which includes taking home the Division 3 state title last season. The NCAA Division I Northern Iowa recruit tallies 6.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.9 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game for WBCA Hall of Fame coach Lora Staveness and the Crusaders, 27-1 overall heading into their D2 state semifinal against Rice Lake. Schmotzer has 455 points and 509 rebounds in her three-year varsity career.
