The Xavier girls' basketball team is headed to its second straight Division 3 state championship game.
The Hawks outscored Elk Mound 32-14 in the second half after trailing by three points at the half to earn the 45-35 victory.
Xavier shot 14-for-16 from the free throw line and made seven three-pointers, which offset the 24 points that Elk Mound scored in the paint against the Hawks' 10.
Three players scored in double figures for the Hawks, led by junior Joy Krull, who finished with 11 points. She shot 2-for-4 from behind the arc and made three of four free throws.
Seniors Ali Tylinski and Faith Hafner each netted 10 points. Tylinski made three of six three-pointers and Hafner hit two.
Elk Mound was led by junior Allie Robel, who finished with 13 points and added eight rebounds.
Xavier will play Oostburg in the Division 3 state championship game on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
In a matchup that lived up to its hype, Oostburg defeated Laconia in a Division 3 state semifinal.
The Lady Dutch led 29-19 at halftime and built a 17-point lead early in the second half before Laconia stormed back. Oostburg weathered the storm and posted a 66-57 victory.
Oostburg shot 19-for-43 from the field, 8-for-21 from 3-point land, and made 20 of 22 free throws in the win.
Freshman phenom Kinsley Ketterhagen, who holds several NCAA Division I offers, scored a game-high 20 points for the Lady Dutch. She shot 7-for-16 from the floor, was 4-for-9 from three, and made both of the free throws she attempted.
Juniors Macy Bruggink and Ady Ketterhagen added 16 and 13 points, respectively. Bruggink added seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Ady, a Green Bay commit, tallied nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals, and made 11 of 12 from the free throw line.
Laconia shot 22-for-57 from the floor, went 7-for-22 from deep, and were 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Senior Tierney Madigan finished with a team-high 17 points and nine rebounds for the Spartans. She also added two assists and two steals.
Fellow seniors Payton Morgan, a Division II Minnesota State recruit, and Aubrey Leonard, a Division II Roosevelt University recruit, also reached double figures, netting 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Leonard dished out eight assists and added two steals, and Morgan shot 4-for-8 on three-pointers.
Laconia's senior class reached the state tournament all four years, winning back-to-back Division 4 state titles and also taking home a silver ball as freshmen.
Oostburg will meet Xavier in the Division 3 state championship game on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Lady Dutch are looking for their fourth title in program history and first since 2008.
