Triple Threat Athlete of the Week: Drew Daoust, Southern Door

The Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an honor given on WisSports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state. Players are recognized each week on WSN, with a boys and girls winner of the Pat Richter Award at the end of the season to the best three-sport athlete of the year.

The Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is presented by the U.S. Marine Corps. The award recognizes student athletes who embody the spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and discipline across multiple sports. The mission of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Milwaukee is to find qualified men and women in Wisconsin and the surrounding area interested in becoming a United States Marine. Marines maintain the legacy of the Marine Corps by winning our nations battles and returning to their communities as quality citizens whether they are active duty or reservist. The coveted title of Marine applies only to those who graduate from the Recruit Depots or Officer Candidate School. RS Milwaukee will provide any qualified man or woman the opportunity to attend the training required to become a Marine - Enlisted or Officer.

Football Honors: four-year varsity starter... second-team all-Packerland offensive end and defensive back as a freshman... second-team all-conference quarterback as a junior... first team all-conference defensive back and Packerland Offensive Player of the Year, WFCA All-Region quarterback as a senior... finished career with 4,253 pass yards and 39 touchdowns; 1,469 rush yards and 34 touchdowns; 415 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns; 8 interceptions and 1 defensive touchdown... led Southern Door to a conference title as a sophomore and four straight playoff appearances.

Basketball honors: four-year varsity starter... averaged 19.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.7 steals per game and named first-team all-Packerland as a freshman... averaged 32.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.6 steals per game; first team all-conference and Packerland Player of the Year, WBCA Division 3 All-State as a sophomore... averaged 32.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 3.3 steals per game; first team all-conference, conference Player of the Year, WBCA Division 3 All-State as a junior... averaged 32.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 3.4 steals per game as a senior; first team all-conference and Player of the Year as a senior... career totals of 3,068 points, 540 made free throws, 291 made threes, 579 rebounds, 385 assists, and 313 steals... second leading scorer in high school boys basketball state history... only the second to ever score 3,000 career points... has three of the top 23 scoring seasons in state history... led Southern Door to three conference championships and two regional titles.

Baseball Honors: two-year varsity performer... honorable mention all-Packerland pitcher as a freshman.

Favorite Sport (and why): "Basketball because growing up it was big in my family. Both of my older brothers played and my mom played collegiately."

Best Part of High School Sports (and why): "Spending time with my teammates, especially this season as I know our time together is coming to an end soon."

Best Advice from a High School Coach: “'Do your job', was something our football coach, Coach Mallien always told us. It reminded us to focus on what was in front of us and to just try to do our best."

Most Memorable Moment in High School Sports: "Winning regional championships junior and senior years."

Best Part of Playing Three Sports: "Building different skills for each sport, and seeing the way they can help me in the other sports. I also enjoyed spending time with the teammates and coaches on each team."

Most Difficult Part of Playing Three Sports: "Time management. Balancing the commitments to each sport while still focusing on school and finding time for family and friends."

Favorite Opponent (and why): "Sturgeon Bay, they’re the closet school to us and I never lost to them."

Favorite Professional Team: Green Bay Packers

Toughest Individual You’ve Competed Against (and why): "Jeremy Lorenz, he’s a division 1 player at Wofford now."

Most Admired High School Teammate (and why): "Caden Pierre, I grew up playing with him, we spent a lot of time in the gym together over the years." 

College Plans: "I’ll be attending UW-Stevens Point and playing basketball there."

Activities Outside of Sports: Hanging out with friends, golfing, hunting.
