Gavin Gores, Cumberland
Gores dominated again as Cumberland knocked off Ladysmith 64-59 in the sectional semifinals. The 6-10 big man finished with 33 points, 18 rebounds, and 3 blocks, while shooting 13 of 20 from the field. Point guard Chayden Berghammer finished with 22 points and made six of eight shots from deep.
Jamarion Batemon, Milwaukee Academy of Science
Batemon poured in 32 points as the Novas knocked off Racine Lutheran 86-71. The Mr. Basketball finalist was just 3 of 10 from three, but 10 of 13 inside the arc.
Logan Zahour, Cedarburg
Zahour was steady and led the Bulldogs to an upset win over top-seed and North Shore foe Slinger in the sectional semis. The talented multi-sport athlete finished with 27 points and 15 rebounds in the 75-66 victory, going four of six from three and five of five from the free throw line.
Brandon Wagner, Turtle Lake
Wagner continued his dominant run in this season's playoffs, leading the Lakers to a 53-45 win over Rib Lake. The junior big man finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds, knocking down five shots from deep.
Brandon's mother and head coach of the Lakers, Angela Wagner will make history this week as the first female coach to coach at the boys basketball state tournament.
Zay Mitchell, Oshkosh North
Mitchell was nearly perfect from deep and will the Spartans to a state tournament berth with his performance in a 79-75 victory over De Pere. The Iowa State commit poured in 47 points while knocking down 13 of 14 shots from deep. He added 15 rebounds and 2 blocks for the Spartans, a seven-seed that has gone on a run resulting in a trip to the Kohl Center.
Milwaukee Academy of Science 97, Carmen Northwest 83
The senior leaders for the Novas showed out in this sectional final victory on Saturday afternoon.
Coastal Carolina commit Devin Brown finished with a team high 25 points and 15 rebounds. Iowa State commit Jamarion Batemon had 21 points while Agape Keys Jr. finished with 15 for the Novas. Amare Jackson rounded out the double-digit scorers with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Logan Zahour, Cedarburg
Zahour recorded his second double-double in sectional play and helped Cedarburg punch its ticket to Madison with an 86-69 win over Notre Dame. Zahour finished with 25 points and 16 rebounds while going a perfect 9 of 9 from the free throw line. Senior point guard Griffin French filled the stat sheet with 12 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds while Ryan O'Neill had 21 points.
Jalen Brown, Wauwatosa West
Wauwatosa West will play in its first state tournament this week thanks in large part to its sensational sophomore wing. Brown, one of the top players in the Class of 2027, finished with 30 points on 15 of 19 shooting. He added seven rebounds and six assists in Tosa West's 71-59 victory over Mount Horeb.
Jack Ellickson & Eli Selk, Waunakee
Ellickson and Selk were both feeling it from deep as Waunakee knocked off Sun Prairie East 75-70 in a sectional final. Ellickson finished with a team high 23 points for the Warriors, burying four three-point shots. Selk had 20 points, made four shots from deep, including two that were well beyond the three-point line.
Donovan Davis, Freedom
Davis didn't have a 30-plus point performance, but he did fill the stat sheet as he led Freedom to a 49-34 victory over Little Chute in the sectional finals at Seymour High School. The sophomore Division 1 recruit had a game high 18 points while hauling in 17 rebounds. Davis added three assists, two blocks, and a steal.
Cale Knutson, Elk Mound
Knutson willed his team to a win over Amery, punching a ticket to Madison with a 54-52 victory. The senior guard was 5 of 8 from deep and finished with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Teammate Kamron Diermeier made the most noteworthy basket, a lane shot with seconds to spare to give the Mounders the victory.
Keaton Wollan, Amery
Wollan recorded a triple-double in the Warriors sectional semifinal game against Northwestern. Despite the loss to Elk Mound on Saturday afternoon, the 6-3 wing surpassed the 1,000 point mark for his career in his final game as a sophomore.
Jaxson Wendhausen, Mineral Point
To say Wendhausen was feeling it Saturday night is an understatement. The senior guard saw just the bottom of the net as he released shot after shot in the Pointer's 80-44 win over Marshall. Wendhausen was 10 of 15 from deep and finished with a game high 42 points.
Zavier Zens, Wisconsin Lutheran
Zens continues to be one of the most efficient players in the state. The 6-7 junior forward poured in 25 points and 13 rebounds in Wisconsin Lutheran's 72-53 win over West Allis Central. Zens was 10 of 16 from the field. Senior teammate Isaiah Mellock filled the stat sheet with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists for the Vikings.
Brooks Hinson, Marshfield
Hinson knocked down six shots from deep and finished with 24 points as Marshfield knocked off Kimberly 62-35 in a sectional final at Wisconsin Rapids High School. The Northern Michigan commit added eight rebounds and two assists for the Tigers who are heading to Madison for the first time since 1994.
Jesse Napgezek, Wausau East
Napgezek filled the stat sheet while dominating the game on offense in Wausau East's 82-45 win over West Salem. The senior wing finished with 38 points while going 14 of 22 from the field and 8 of 10 from the free throw line. Napgezek also tallied eight steals, five blocks, four rebounds, and two assists for the Lumberjacks.
