Lakeland's Kristina Ouimette chosen as the state's top shooter

Lakeland's Kristina Ouimette has been picked as the state's top senior shooter as part of the WSN Senior Basketball Awards.  

Ouimette led the Thunderbirds to a Division 2 sectional semifinal and a 22-5 overall record. 

She was third in the state in scoring with 29.5 points per game and led the state with 105 three-pointers made (41.8%).

Kristina, a two-time WBCA all-state choice, also averaged 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists,4.0 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game for coach and mother Melissa Ouimette and the Thunderbirds.

The Green Bay recruit shot 50.6 percent from the floor and 81.7 percent from the charity stripe. 

She scored at least 40 points in four games this season, including a career-best 49 points in a game. Kristina helped lead Lakeland to a D2 state tournament appearance as a sophomore.

Kristina was a two-time WBCA all-state selection, earning honorable mention all-state recognition as a sophomore. She was also named Great Northern Player of the Year as a sophomore, junior, and senior. 

Ouimette finished her career as a top 10 scorer in girls’ basketball history with 2,522 points and connected on 398 from 3-point land (37.9%).

The 398 three-pointers made is an unofficial state record. 

She also tallied 772 rebounds, 537 assists, 409 steals, and 239 blocks, helping lead the Thunderbirds to an 87-24 record. 

The finalists for the award were Ouimette, Hailee Bauer of Lourdes Academy, Jordan Fenske of Waukesha West, Ameerah Grant of Brown Deer, Samantha Hafferkamp of Union Grove, Kate McGinnis of Kimberly, and Rainey Welson of Hortonville. 

Past winners of the award include Allie Ziebell of Neenah, Mallory Hoitink of Slinger (2023), Abbie Aalsma of Waupun (2022), Maddy Schreiber of Kimberly (2021), Bridget Froehlke of Wrightstown (2020), Shemera Williams of Milwaukee Academy of Science (2019), Shay Frederic of Hortonville (2018), Tori Martell of Somerset (2017), Dani Rhodes of Waukesha West (2016), Natisha Hiedeman of Green Bay Southwest (2015), Lydia Rohde of Brookfield Central (2014), Rachel Atchison of East Troy (2013), and Taylor Varsho of Marshfield (2012).
