Karson Osterman won the 2025 WIAA Boys Basketball 3-Point Challenge on the Kohl Center floor on Saturday morning.
10 participants were selected for the event based on stats information entered by coaches into the WisSports.net database. The top two three-point shooters (minimum 75 attempts) from each division were chosen to participate.
Osterman originally wasn't slated to compete in the competition, but got the call earlier this week as a replacement for Sun Prairie East's Max Raimer.
The 5-9 guard for Pewaukee is no stranger to the Kohl Center atmosphere as he's played in two state tournaments with the Pirates in 2023 and 2024. This season, he got to compete in the 3-point challenge. Osterman made 69 three-point shots this season at a 44.5% clip. For his career, he buried 168 threes and shot 45.9% in 86 career games.
The senior sharpshooter scored the round high for all three rounds this morning. Osterman scored a 21 in the quarterfinal round and a 19 in the semifinal round to advance to the finals. There, he again netted 21. His three-round total of 61 is the second highest in the 3-Point Challenge's history, behind Ryan Steffes of New Holstein who had 68 in 2018.
Joining Osterman in the finals was D.C. Everest junior Cade Felch who scored a 17 in both the semifinal and final rounds.
Roncalli senior Matthew Bonin and Assumption junior Logan Nystrom were the other semifinalists but fell short of advancing to the finals.
