Milwaukee Academy of Science's Batemon chosen as state's top senior shooter

Jamarion Batemon of Milwaukee Academy of Science has been selected as the top senior Shooter as part of the WSN Senior Basketball Awards.

Batemon was instrumental in leading Milwaukee Academy of Science to the WIAA Division 3 state championship, the first in the program's history.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard and Iowa State recruit ranked near the top of the state in threes made (106) and three-point shooting percentage (42.7%) this season. He hit big shots time and again, including a deep trey late in the state semifinals game against Lake Mills that helped clinch the victory.

A Mr. Basketball finalist, Batemon averaged 25.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game this season for the Novas. Over his four-year varsity career, he totaled 1,914 points, 308 made three-point shots, 340 rebounds, and 188 assists. He shot 50% from the field, 43% from three, and 83% from the free throw line over 100 games.

Finalists for the award were Batemon, Chris Davis Jr. of Sun Prairie East, Tyler Haney of Sun Prairie West, Brooks Hinson of Marshfield, and Cameron Lipinski of Cochrane-Fountain City.

Past winners of the award include Kon Knueppel of Wisconsin Lutheran (2024), Milan Moncilovic of Pewaukee (2023), Miles Barnstable of Howards Grove (2022), Joe Reuter of Chippewa Falls (2021), Aidan Clarey of Brookfield Academy (2020), Henry Noone of Lourdes Academy (2019), Drew Blair of Stevens Point (2018), Ryan Krueger of Hortonville (2017), Trev Anderson of Stevens Point (2016), Brevin Pritzl of De Pere (2015), Brady Ellingson of Sussex Hamilton (2014), Matt Thomas of Onalaska (2013), and Tyson Kalien of Chippewa Falls (2012).
