Athlete of the Week Nominees: March 24-30

Addison Braun, Waupun

Braun was excellent from both the mound and at the plate as the Waupun softball team went 1-1 to start the season. In an 11-0 six-inning shutout of Cambria-Friesland, Braun pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit and striking out eleven batters. Braun went two for five from the plate with two RBIs. The junior then went one of three with two RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base in the Warrior's 8-5 loss to Saint Mary's Springs.

Laney Pankratz, Stratford

Pankratz was a tough out at the plate and got plenty of outs on the mound as Stratford started the season going 3-0 at the Danny Mac Softball Classic. Friday, Pankratz took the mound and pitched a complete game in a 12-4 victory. She struck out 12 batters and allowed just one earned run on six hits. From the plate, she went three for four with four RBIs and one run scored. Pankratz went three for four with a walk and three runs scored in Statford's 10-4 win over Wautoma on Saturday. She took the mound in the second game of the day and pitched a complete game in the 11-2 win over Shawano, striking out five and allowing two runs on six hits. She went three for three from the plate with two walks, two runs scored, and two stolen bases.

Mason Richter, Sheboygan Falls

Richter took home a first place finish in two events for the Two Rivers boys track and field team last week. Competing at the Earl Hebert Invite at Manitowoc Lincoln, the junior jumper was better than everyone in the two events he competed in. Richter won the high jump at 6-0 even, capturing a first place finish by one inch. He then won the long jump competition with a distance of 22-1, over two feet longer than the second place finisher.

Iszy Sonnentag, Cadott

Sonnentag had a great week competing at UW-Stout in a pair of meets with the Cadott track and field team. Tuesday, Stout hosted the Blue Devil Invite with teams of all divisions from the western and northern parts of the state. Sonnentag won the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.86, won the high jump at 5-01.00, and finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.64 coming .01 seconds behind first. Saturday she was back at Stout competing in the Northern Badger Classic, small schools meet. Sonnentag won the 400-meter dash in a time of 57.65 seconds, setting a new meet record. She also won the long jump at 17-05.75 and finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.11.

Josalyn White, Notre Dame

White was spectacular as she willed the Tritons to a win in the opening game of the 2025 season in girls lacrosse. The junior attacker scored 11 goals and assisted on the other in the co-op's 12-11 win over Oregon last Thursday. White accounted for all twelve goals, including the final goal that she netted with ten seconds left to lift the Tritons to a win.
