2024 Season Recap
Marshall (17-7 Overall) and Waterloo (15-10) shared the Capitol South in 2024. Cambridge (5-10-1), Wisconsin Heights (5-17) and Belleville (1-15) finished out the Capitol South. Waterloo advanced the furthest, falling to Horicon in the Sectional Semi Finals.

Team Previews
Marshall graduated six Seniors, four of which were in the starting line up from 2024. The Cardinals do return Sydney Stuntebeck SR C, Kennedy Weisensel JR P, Lyliane Brown SR OF and Carly Checky Jr SS. Kevin Knudson who enters his 2nd Season with Marshall and has had previous stops with Oakfield (State Champions in 2021), Barneveld and Almond-Bancroft mentioned that The Main battery will be a highlight for them while replacing 4 Starters at new Positions will be a focus area. Marshall opened the season in Pigeon Forge, TN which Knudson said was a great experience playing some tough competition. Knudson expects Waterloo to be a conference contender and Poynette and Lodi as Playoff Contenders within their Regional Grouping.
Notable Losses: Naomi Dahl, Chase Pennekamp, Emily Brodbeck, Kate Luzenski, Lacey Johnson, Mollie Fritter- All Graduated.
Waterloo will look to contend with Marshall for the Capitol South Crown again in 2025. Returning for 37th year Head Coach Deb Braatz and the Pirates are Emma Baumann Jr C: (2X All-Conference, All District-2024, Verbal commitment to Minnesota State-Mankato), Callie Davison So SS (All Conference 2024), and Ally Schaumann So Pitcher. Waterloo will face some powerful non-conference competition this season with games against Lomira, Poynette, Mineral Point, Jefferson and Mount Horeb and will be in the mix with Horicon and Oakfield for playoff contention.

Cambridge graduated two seniors (Julia Schneider & Saveea Freeland) in 2024. The Bluejays have 11 projected returning players to their roster in 2025, including All Conference selections Megan Bernhardt Sr SS, Finley Tusic Jr IF, and Kimmie Roidt So 3B. Cambridge will also have notable games against surrounding non-conference teams in Trailways-South teams Deerfield & Johnson Creek, Six Rivers Monticello/New Glarus and Rock Valley Schools Edgerton & Whitewater and Badger Large School Fort Atkinson.
Wisconsin Heights has a new Head Coach this season with Britian Glodeman taking over the top spot. Gloudeman mentioned that they have a young team and they are looking forward to improving from a season ago.

Belleville has a new head coach with Kary Flannery taking over the program. Notable returnees include Bryn Prochaska So 3B, Anna Alexander So CF and newcomers of Jocelyn Raven - LF/C, Story Fossom - P/C, and Payton Richter -RF for the Wildcats.
