2024 Season Recap

Luxemburg-Casco (23-3 overall) took first in the North Eastern, followed by Freedom (23-7), and Denmark (20-7). Fox Valley Lutheran (17-8), Oconto Falls (12-11), Marinette (7-14), Waupaca (11-15), Wrightstown (6-17), Clintonville (7-21), and Little Chute (1-21) rounded things out. Freedom went the furthest in post season play, falling to eventual state champion Waupun in the Sectional Final.

Team Previews

Freedom is the team to beat in the North Eastern this season. The Irish have eight returning starters, and two strong pitchers including ace pitcher Peyton VanDeloo (Ripon Commit) along with Catcher Kaia McVay (UW-Platteville Commit) and Outfielder Marlee Smith (UW-Eau Claire Commit). Ninth year Head Coach Tim Dietzen (201-38 record and Back to Back State Division 2 Champions in 2022 and 2023) says the regular season will be competitive and sees Luxemburg-Casco and Denmark as other teams expected to challenge them for the conference title but will have to play in Division 1 for the playoffs due to Tournament Performance Factor Points. Their group includes perennial powers Kaukauna, Ashwaubenon, Green Bay Preble and Kimberly.

Other Returnees: Kaylee Strodeur Sr P, Sr Carrington Klug OF, Sarriah Doxtator Sr OF, Addie Murphy.

Newcomers: Jovie Smith Fr

Denmark returns a majority of its leaders from last season. The Vikings pitchers Maggie Frank Jr and Shaelyn Kraschnewski So saw multiple innings in 2024 and offensive threats Audrey Baugnet Sr 2B, Emma Olsen Sr OF as well as Shaelyn Kraschnewski had big numbers. Denmark is grouped with most of its conference rivals in its half sectional along with Seymour and Winneconne.

Notable Losses: Olivia Ullman IF, Emily Mleziva IF/OF, Morgan Brice IF, Ashlyn Schultz C/OF.

Luxemburg-Casco graduated a large senior class of eight in 2024 although the Spartans can never be counted out in contention for the top of the North Eastern Conference. Luxemburg-Casco has seven seniors, six juniors, and one sophomore listed on its 2025 Roster that will look to contend in the North Eastern Conference and in its half sectional. Kacie Jorgensen Sr, Erin Chervosky Sr, Katelyn Van Ess Sr, Baylee Wypiszenski jr and Rylan Kaminski Jr are the lone returning players from 2024.

Fox Valley Lutheran looks to make a push towards the top of the North Eastern This season. The Foxes return six starters and have a young but talented team for first year head coach Gunnar Pfrang. Madison Babcock So P, (2nd team all-conference, Honorable Mention all District) Claire Pfrang So 2nd Base (Honorable mention all-conference) and Avery Steffes Jr CF, (3-Year Starter) look to anchor the team this season. FVL will play some notable non-conference games this season Including Seymour and New London as well as the Ashwaubenon Tournament that attracts several top teams each year.

Notable Losses: Brooklyn Blob, 3B (2nd team all-conference) Melayna Sokulski C (Honorable mention all-conference) Alaina Krueger, SS (Honorable mention all-conference)

Newcomers: Nora Probst - Fr Catcher/IF. Paige Leavitt - FR P/OF/IF, Brianna Dahlke - Fr P/IF

Wrightstown looks to move up in the standings this season. The Tigers have strength at pitching and six returning starters this season for seventh year head coach Chuck Verbeten. Verbeten stated that they will need to find a true four hitter and leave less stranded on the bases this season. Mallory Cowell Sr P, Natalie Cowell Sr 1B/3B, Kaia Leick Sr 2B, Ella Verbeten Jr SS/C, outfielders Briley Duroucher Sr, Madyson Stingle Sr & Bryn Amundson So, Molly Rubel DP/1B/P are the top returnees this season. Wrightstown competed in the Danny Mac Softball Classic at the Rhinelander Hodag Dome to open the season.

Notable Losses: Lauren Verheyen 1B/C and Amber Radtke OF.

Newcomers: Morgan McKewin SS/3B, Anasyn Eiles C, Marisa Jeanquart C, Lola Beyer 3B/P, Sophia Garcia OF/P, Madelyn DeCleene IF/OF

Oconto Falls has a new head coach for 2025, Steve Kurek was named the head coach just weeks before the season started. Miranda Metzler Sr P and Amelia Danielcak Jr C/OF will look to lead the way in their respective positions and at the plate in 2025. The Panthers also have seven other returnees on the roster this season.

Notable Losses: Kiera Cole C, Kyndra Staidl IF.

Newcomers: Kylie Thompson Jr, Izzy Otto So, Delaney McNichols Jr

Marinette graduated its pitcher, Wynn Erdman, who was the lone remaining member of the 2021 State Tournament team. The Marines also have a new head coach with Ken Kacalo taking over the program. Marinette returns a number of returnees from 2024 most notably being Kaya Bodam Sr C and Brianna Adamski Sr who will move to its primary pitcher this season.

Notable Losses: Wyn Erdman P, Destiny Walker OF/C,

Newcomers: Savannah Schneider Fr, Isabella Koenigs Fr, Brynn Coakley Fr, Abbigayle Maske Fr

Clintonville is a young squad that will return most of its starters and 10 varsity letterwinners from a season ago, returning starters Ava Kasson Sr OF (HM All Conference) and Abby Tate Jr 3B look to anchor the team. The Truckers went to Florida the first week of the season for a few games, one being against Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

Notable losses: Madison Schweitzer, Natalie Sunita, Autumn Ort, Brooklyn Henry.

Other Returnees: Kelsey Maus Sr SS, Claire Papendorf So P, Alivia Cartright So C.

Waupaca has Hailey Bechard Sr P/SS, Lily Cichy Sr 2B/OF/C, Aj Koran Jr 3B, returning from last season but will be joined by several new players this season.

Notable Losses: Josie Peterson, Macie Studzinski, Kayla Keil, Reyna Rasmussen, Peyton Tuma.

Newcomers: Emalee Beyersdorf So P/OF, Liberty Pankow Fr 2B/OF

Little Chute will look to returnees Kyra Whalley Sr LF, Laine Hietpas So SS, Emma Lendved Jr C, Ameila Eiting Sr IF and Danica Pfrang Sr RF and newcomers Bella Pfrang Fr, Hayden Burton Fr, Josie Kerrigan Fr, Madalyn Bork So, Ella Mileke So, Jenna Whalley So, and Emily Leher Sr to navigate the challenges of the North Eastern Conference in 2025. Grace Jansen, Abigail Van Handel, Brooke Beahm and Addison Wegan were seniors on the 2024 team.
