2024 Season Recap

Westosha Central (19-5 Overall) took the Southern Lakes Conference crown a season ago, Waterford (17-7) followed in second. Union Grove (18-10), Burlington (17-9), Beloit Memorial (11-12), Elkhorn (6-18), Wilmot (4-18), and Badger (5-16) would round out the standings. Westosha Central advanced the furthest, falling to Muskego in the Sectional Semi-Final.

Team Previews

Westosha Central will look to defend its Southern Lakes title from 2024. The Falcons have a new head coach with Glen Nelson taking over for longtime co-head coaches Tom & Konnie Lampe. The Falcons five now-graduated seniors provided a lot of production in 2024 and they will need to replace that. Returning is Meghan Lampos Sr P (12-3 93 IP, 1.81 ERA, 172 Strikeouts, 27 hits and 18 RBI at the plate, 3X 1st Team All Conference, 2X WFSCA All District HM, WFSCA 1st team All District 2024, WFSCA All State 2024), Alex McKinney Sr C/IF (18 RBI) and Emma Smith Sr C/OF. Nelson mentions they also have a good crop of young players ready to play at the varsity level.

Notable Losses: Lila McNeil (32 Stolen Bases, Conference Athlete of the year), Allison Loucas, Sam Erber, Jordan Jozefiak (All Graduated) Maya Gagliardi (Not Playing)

Newcomers: Abby Plapp Fr 1B/OF, Colbie LeQuesne Fr IF, Hailey Biese So P

Union Grove looks to build off last year's young team. “We are a young team again this year," said second year head coach Brian Van Swol. "Last year we started five freshmen so they gained great experience. We have high expectations with our returning players along with the players that played JV last year who will be Varsity contributors this season.” River Jamison So IF, Karlie Peterson So OF, Ella Erickson Sr OF and Marlee Lange So P, Emma Santarelli So C highlight the Broncos returning cast this season. Union Grove will face some quality non-conference games playing in the Muskego Triangular, the Kenosha Bradford Quad and the Ashwaubenon Tournament.

Newcomers: Olivia Czuk Jr IF, Brooke Foreman Jr OF, McKenna Bones So 1B/C, Ciara Haag Fr P

Burlington will have to overcome the graduation of a strong 2024 class this season. “We will be very inexperienced this year,” says Head Coach Scott Behnke. "We do have Pitching (Senior Macie Plitzuweit-HM All County P/IF, 6-2 57 IP 4.42 ERA, and Jr Allison Calkins 33 ⅔ IP 2-1 0.83 ERA in nine Games) along with defense to rely on." The Demons will look to Kasey Lois Sr (2nd Team All-Conference HM Infielder, 33 hits 22 Runs Scored .402 avg) and Emersyn Biedrzycki Jr (First Team All-Conference, 2nd team all county 3b/SS 31 hits, 26 RBI 6 Home Runs .397 avg) to lead the offense this season.

Notable Losses: Kayla Warner (1st team all conference, all county CF). Senior Kati Berezowitz (graduated early to play volleyball at Vanderbilt University) Juliette Bousquet (catcher and team captain), Kendall Kafar (Pitcher and Captain), Ava Schkeryantz. (HM All conference. 1st team All County OF/C)

Newcomers: Dakota Rivera Jr C/IF, Ashleigh Schkeryantz So OF, Emma Church So IF/OF. Lane Bartels Fr C/IF, Amber Iselin Fr P

Elkhorn will look to move up in the Southern Lakes standings this season. The Elks will look to Veronica Siegler Sr to handle the pitching this season and welcome back Ella Ulenhake Sr from injury at catcher. Marlee Wester Jr was also named honorable mention All-Conference last season. Second year Head Coach Heather Ghilani mentioned, “This season we are a year older. We are stronger and faster than last year. The girls' knowledge of the game also improved. Our depth at pitching is a concern for the program.”

Notable Losses: MIkayla Meinen 1B, Makayla Wall P

Newcomers: Brynn Hagan Fr

Waterford graduated a large senior class in 2024 with five being All-Conference selections. The lone All-Conference selection returning for the Wolverines is Jaydin Kiser Jr P/IF.

Badger returns most of its team from 2024. Returning All-Conference selections are Lilly Butinas Jr C/OF and Kaela Zapadinsky Sr 1B. The Badgers do have potential in newcomers Claire Polyock Fr and Miah Butinas Fr, who have been ranked one of the top players in the class of 2028 by Showtime Sports.

Beloit Memorial graduated First Team All-Conference selection Allie Gustafson and welcome back All-Conference Honorable Mention Rilynne Cleland So P. The Purple Knights posted an early season win against last year’s Division 4 State Champion Fall Creek to start the season.

Wilmot graduated two all-conference selections in 2024 in Macy Platts and Kylie Linn. The Panthers return Payton Biddle Jr P and Sarah Josko Jr 2B/SS.
