Team Previews

Fall Creek is the defending Cloverbelt-West Champion and the defending Division 4 State Champion. The Crickets are backed by the return of its senior pitcher Grace Herrem and other notable returnees including Kennedy Tumm Sr 3B, Emma Westrate Sr C/OF, Kendyl Asmussen Sr OF, Addy Haynes Sr IF, and Larissa Johnson Sr IF/OF. Fall Creek will have to defend its State Title in Division 3 this year and will have last year's Division 3 Champion Prescott in its half-sectional and there could be a rematch of last year's Division 4 Sectional Final with Grantsburg as they move up to Division 3 as well.

Notable Losses: Sophie Johnson, Elena Raffesberger, Averie Barka.

McDonell Central ran into the roadblock of a talented Fall Creek team which accounted for all three of its losses in 2024. The Macks graduated four in 2024 including All-Conference selections Katie Ruf, Aubrey Dorn, and Conference POY Morgan Wirtz and will have a new head coach in 2024 as Rick Ruf takes over the program. Returning for the Macks are Kendall Hepfler Sr OF, Rylie Christanson-Richardson So 3B/P, Claire Ruf So SS, Kiara Lienenkugel Sr 1B, Kelsey Bremness So P, and Liz Liebrandt So C.

Thorp was able to navigate the turbulence of Fall Creek and McDonell and in the end used it to its advantage to qualify for the Division 5 State Tournament last season. The Cardinals move on from only one senior in 2024 and return a very formidable team. Returning players of note are Shaylie Zarza Sr OF, Lizzy Frankewicz Sr SS and Jasmine Stratton Sr P. Thorp will be a favorite in its Division 5 Sectional this season and will have the former heavy hitters of Division 5 out of its way can they make it back to Goodman Diamond.

Bloomer will have a different look in the circle this season as Addyson Zwiefelhofer Jr (11-10 2.55 ERA as So) is out with a season-ending injury suffered during basketball season. Seventh year head coach Keith Poirer mentioned that they will have a formidable offense with returnees Aubrey Tarnowski Jr CF (2nd Team All-Conf, .356 with 18 SB), Avery Sieg So C (2nd Team All conf in 2023 as frosh, Missed 16 games last year with knee injury. Batted .543 with 2 HR and 17 rbi in 11 games), Lily Pahulu Jr 1B, (batted .362 w/15 SB), and Camryn Yeakey, Jr DP, (.380 avg Hon Mention All-Conf) but will need the defense to step up with the lack of pitching depth. Liddiah Prince Sr is expected to work the circle for the Blackhawks this season.

Stanley-Boyd has a new coach, as Kim Goettl takes over for the Orioles this season. “This team is coming into the season with a fire in their belly and high expectations," said Goettl. "They are returning their entire line-up from last year minus the starting pitcher. This means they are bringing experience. They are also bringing athletic players. Adding the experience will be some new freshmen to help round out some positions and bring some depth. Not to our advantage, we are not returning any pitchers as the lone senior last year started in the circle with a freshman behind her.”

Returnees: Bailey Sikora Jr C, Ava Prahl Jr OF, Kelly Lew So 3B. Lauren Potaczek Sr, Aaliyah Allard Sr.

Notable Losses: Abby Reynolds, Ella Nitz (Season ending Injury)

Newcomers: Caitlen Ketterhagen Fr and Kendall Sikora Fr

Cadott has nine projected returnees this year including Rilei Weeks Sr SS (Committed to UW Superior) and Kasey Moldrem Sr P (Committed to Ripon). Second-year head coach Lexie Rothbauer mentioned that there is a good sense of community and positive attitudes, but also have a younger team with lower numbers this season to work with. Coach Rothbauer also said there are three new players in the ranks and is excited for players to try new positions to fill those left by graduation.

Notable Losses: Kendall Webster CF, Bella Barone 2B, and Brandee Burish 3B Graduated.

Regis is looking to build off the successes of last season with senior leadership and several returning starters. “The roster has more depth this year and we are looking for more players to step up and make an impact on the season,” says second year head coach Nolan Fadness. Pitching depth will be a question though, says Fadness.

Notable Losses: Karenna Lokken IN/OF

Returnees: Ava Skwierczynsk: Sr SS/P (2nd Team All Conference 2024), Malia Kassing Sr 1B, Jace Jensen Sr C/P, Abby Hawker Jr 2B.
