2024 Season Recap
Auburndale (21-4 overall) placed first and qualified for the State Tournament a season ago in Division 4 for the first time in school history. Assumption (17-7) finished second and qualified for the State Tournament in Division 5. Stratford (20-7), Edgar (10-12), Marathon (9-13) and Newman Catholic (7-12), a Division 5 sectional finalist, finished the Marawood-South out.

Team Previews
Auburndale graduated three starters but return the core of its group from a season ago. Morgan Griesbach P (Conference POY, 2nd team all-state, 1st team all district/all conference 16-2 118 ⅓ IP 188 Strike outs 1.42 ERA), will lead the way in the circle for the Eagles. Mya Krings Sr SS (1st team all conference, 2nd team all district 37 Hits, 38 Runs scored .446 avg), and Danika Blomberg Jr C (2nd team all conference, 26 RBI). The Eagles Regional grouping consists of several Marawood-South teams along with defending State Champion Pacelli.

Stratford will look to stay at the top of the Marawood-South with a group of returning players with significant experience. Of that group is Laney Pankratz Sr P (14-4 118 IP 1.31 ERA 155 Strikeouts. 1st Team All Conference), Emma Roeper Sr C (28 Hits, 34 RBI, .329 avg, 1st Team All Conference) Carly Pankratz So CF (1st team all conference, 31 Hits, 23 Runs scored, .341 avg) and Tri Tubbs Jr 1B (2nd Team All Conference). Mandy Pankratz, who has 19 non-consecutive years as the Tigers head coach, says strong pitching and overall experience will be key for the team this year while having some new players on varsity will be a learning curve, which includes up to 13 players hoping to earn a varsity spot. Coach Pankratz is also hoping Mother Nature will be the best softball fan this season.

Assumption will be part of the top gauntlet of the Marawood-South this season. The Royals are coming off three straight trips to the State Tournament in Division 5 but will have to navigate that path in Division 4 this year. Returning for Assumption is Claire Nelson Sr C (42 Hits 25 RBI .627 avg, 1st Team All Conference and All State, Drury College Commit). Anna Schooley Sr IF/OF (32 Hits, 33 Runs Scored, 22 RBI .444 Avg,,1st team All conference, HM All State), Macy Vollert Sr P (10-5 64 IP, 95 Strikeouts 2.30 ERA, 2nd Team All Conference), Ari Cavanaugh Jr P/CF (6-1 55 ⅔ IP, 55 Strikeouts 2.01 ERA, 8 Triples, 22 RBI, 2nd Team All conference). Co-Head Coaches Rob Schill and Charlie Nelson mentioned their strengths are pitching, catching, and strong bats returning and will have to overcome being young and inexperienced. Aside from conference rivals Auburndale and Stratford, Assumption will have non-conference rival Pacelli in its playoff grouping this season.

Newcomers: Emmercy Breu OF, Breanna Aue 1B, Elayna Aue 2B, Dealyne Hahn So 3B
Marathon had five all-conference selections in 2024, two have graduated in Lauren Karlen CF and Bridget Salber C. Danica Paszek So 1B, Allison Podjaski So P/3B, and Riley Skrypzchak So C/3B return for the Red Raiders this season which are mostly made up of underclassmen this year.
Edgar loses two all-conference selections in Morgan Streveler P and Taylor Lemmer CF. Emery Borchardt Sr is the lone returning all-conference player for the Wildcats this season. Other players of note are Isabella Kasier So SS, Riley Mueller Sr LF and Alyson Kolano So C.
Newman Catholic qualified for the sectional finals for the second consecutive season in 2025. The Fighting Cardinals did graduate First Team All-Conference picks Ava Sukanen and Ashley Jankowski. Madison Keene So SS and Lily Shields Sr 2B are returning all-conference players this season.
