Favorite Sport (and why): "Basketball is my favorite sport because there are so many pieces that make different players unique in their own way. Someone could be a great defender while another person could be a great shooter, and they're both valuable to their team. I also love the bond that is created during basketball season because each person brings something special to the team in order to help everyone grow."
Best Part of High School Sports (and why): "The best part of high school sports for me would definitely be all the different groups and people you become close with. Coming from a smaller school, lots of people do three sports, and just having that bond with them from season to season and being able to connect outside of sports is very special."
Best Advice from a High School Coach: "The best advice I have received from a high school coach is to relax because a lot of times I can get uptight and stressed out about certain things. It’s just a good reminder to stay present in the moment and prepared for the opportunity. It also reminds me that I have to trust in what I’m doing and know what I’m capable of when the time comes."
Most Memorable Moment in High School Sports: "My most memorable moment in high school sports is from my junior year during cross country. We were heading into the conference race and weren’t expecting to win, but instead took second by a good amount of points. During my middle school years, we only had two girls who went on to high school cross country so competing with a team was very exciting. Everyone went above and beyond where they were seeded, and we won for the first time in 17 years. I think just seeing how far our program has gone for cross country and where it is now was a really proud moment for me because I was a part of that."
Best Part of Playing Three Sports: "The best part of playing three sports is all the different life skills that come with it. You learn how to work hard, be resilient, manage your time, become a leader, and be an overall good teammate."
Most Difficult Part of Playing Three Sports: "Honestly, the most difficult part of playing three sports is just the time management, especially during the summer time. Trying to get to the weight room, go to the running club, and then go play a few basketball games all in the same day is a lot. It’s also hard trying to spend time with friends because there is always something going on with the sports you are in."
Favorite Opponent (and why): "My favorite opponent was Highland, my freshman year basketball season. Even though we lost this game to go to state, it was the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in and experienced. Both teams were from small towns, so when we went to Richland Center to play, the stands were packed, and it was so loud in there."
Favorite Professional Team: Milwaukee Bucks
Favorite Professional Athlete: Serena Williams
Favorite College Team: University of Sioux Falls Women’s Basketball
Cumulative GPA: 4.21
Toughest Individual You’ve Competed Against (and why): "The toughest individual I had to compete against was definitely Marah Gruen. She just had this gear that was always one step ahead of me, and the mindset that nothing was going to get in her way. All love, she is a very sweet girl, and she has helped shape me into the athlete I am today by pushing me to get better."
Most Admired High School Teammate (and why): "My most admired teammate was Aliyah Langrehr. Going into varsity basketball my freshman year, everyone had already played together for a while now so I was a little uncomfortable. Aliyah took me under her wing, and we just naturally gelled together on and off the court. To this day, she is still my best friend, and her family treats me like their own."
College Plans: "After high school, I am attending the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota to major in biology and play basketball."
Activities Outside of Sports: "Outside of sports, I like to read and honestly just stay active, so running and lifting. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends and family."
