2024 Season Recap

Tomah (20-5 overall) took the Mississippi Valley a season ago, Aquinas (17-7), Holmen (14-11) and La Crosse Central (12-8) tied for 2nd. La Crosse Logan (7-17), Onalaska (7-14) and Sparta (2-16) followed. Tomah advanced to the sectional semi-final, falling to Middleton.

Team Previews

Tomah will be the favorite to take the Mississippi Valley again this season. The Timberwolves return the leading ace Anna Wall Jr in the circle this season along with Avery Brohmer So IF, Libby Mathison Sr IF, Avary Chapman Jr IF, Mara Noth Jr C, Brielle Plueger So OF and Lilly Noth Sr IF. Tomah will look to hash it out with Middleton and Sun Prairie East to earn a trip to the State Tournament this season.

Holmen graduated its ace pitcher and leading hitter Marci Jacobson last season. The Vikings return their second option in the circle in Gabi Stuhr Jr and will look to returning players Macy Kline Jr SS, McKenna McHugh Jr CF, Josie Happel Sr, Imani Toso Sr RF, and Taylor Everson Sr 1B Sr this season.

Onalaska will look to make a jump up from last year's finish. The Hilltoppers bring back Qitarra Olson Sr, Lauren Pica So C, Jenna Gansen Sr, Alexa Larson Sr, Zoey Lichty So. Onalaska will have some newcomers in the mix this season that will look to make an impact right away in MJ Heit Fr and Sydney Kraus Fr,

La Crosse Central has a new coach as Nathaniel Turner takes the reigns this year for the Riverhawks. Turner, who has coached softball at Wabasha-Kellogg MN and baseball at Melrose-Mindoro, says they look to lean on pitching and good energy from a young team this year that is eager to show what they can do. Carmen Peterson Sr P ( 9-6 103 ⅓ IP, 139 Strikeouts, 2.37 ERA, Viterbo University commitment), Ellie Gillitzer So IF, Emma Roesler Jr IF, Terri Shawley Jr IF, Nora Holkup Jr 1B also return for La Crosse Central this season. Claire Von Gruden Fr will also look to make an impact this season.

Notable Losses: Alyssa Brickson C

Aquinas graduated just three in 2024 and its most notable returnee out of a large group is Kathryn Savodelli Sr C.

La Crosse Logan had a large senior class in 2024. The Rangers return some innings in the circle with Sophie Schmitz So and will look to returning players Keena Streeck Jr IF and Maria Weber So C to lead the team. Several new players will look to contribute this season.

Sparta returns most of their team from 2024, leading the way for the Spartans are Morgan Revels Jr 2B and Izzy Mickelson Jr P.
