2024 Season Recap

Northwood/Solon Springs (17-5 overall) took the Lakeland-East crown in 2024. Cornell/Lake Holcombe (12-8) took second. Prairie Farm (11-4), Flambeau (16-11), Birchwood/Winter (5-9), Clear Lake (4-13), New Auburn (1-12) and Bruce (1-15) finished out the standings. Northwood/Solon Springs advanced to the Sectional level of play, falling to Mellen.

Team Previews

Northwood/Solon Springs has to replace four notable positions from its 2024 season but will look to reload with four all-conference selections in Emily Adrihan Sr IF (19 Walks, hit 3.70 as a Jr, 1st team All Conference), Paetyn Simenson Sr (10 RBI, 2nd Team All Conference), Audrey Swanson Jr (HM) and Maddie Jacobs So (HM). Fifth year Head Coach Jackson Terry mentioned, “Lots of raw physical talent, infield defense should be very strong, young and hungry players, We have a very young and athletic freshman class with lots of ability and potential, very excited for the season and the future of the program.” The Evergreens will have a regular season rematch with Mellen in April and will take part in the Shell Lake Tournament in May. Along with Mellen, Thorp and Athens are seen as playoff teams to beat.

Notable Losses: Lily Borst P, Izzy Golembiewski SS, Zoey Wilson C/P/1B all graduated, Ella Postl Sr 1B not playing

Newcomers: Kendall Nelson Jr P

Cornell/Lake Holcombe graduated most of its innings in the circle from last season and some of the team's top hitters. The Knights do return some solid performers that will look to keep things at bay in the Lakeland-East this season. Candace Spaeth Sr P/OF will look to work most of the innings this season while Bralee Schroeder Sr C/OF and Richelle Rather Sr OF will look to anchor the offense.

Flambeau only had one senior on its roster in 2024 and returns most of its team this season. Ava Hughes Sr P/OF/IF, Madison Baker Sr OF/IF/P, Ella Groothousen Jr IF/OF, Sydney Bratanich Sr IF, and Vanessa Verdegan Sr C/IF are the most notable returnees this season.

Prairie Farm has a new head coach this season as Eric Larson takes over the program. The Panthers also graduated all of its innings in the circle. Madalyn Larson Jr C/SS and Briana Klefstad Jr IF/OF are the most notable returning players this season.

Birchwood/Winter had only two seniors on last year’s roster and are projected to return most of their players from last season.

Clear Lake has a new head coach this season with Eric Morrisey taking over the program. The Warriors had four seniors on its 2024 roster. Their most notable returning players are Kimberly Brinker Jr and Addison Kobernick So.

New Auburn is still relatively young as it enters its second season back in varsity competition after a hiatus for a few seasons. The Trojans do have a new head coach this season as well with Tara Harder taking over.
