We've fully transitioned to outdoor season, even if the weather hasn't been great yet, and we'll focus all updates for the rest of the year on the outdoor lists.
Below are the additions to the top overall performances list from the past week.
BOYS ADDITIONS
Oostburg senior Kaden Arndt came out of nowhere with the state's best 100-meter dash time of 10.51 seconds at the Kohler Big East 7-Team Meet.
At the Hale Distance Night in West Allis, Homestead junior Jay Tally set a new state-best in the 800-meters with a time fo 1:52.40.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Wisconsin Lutheran sophomore Niyer Clayborn moved up one spot to first this year with a time of 14.06 seconds at the Brookfield Central Lancer meet on Saturday. The Arrowhead 4x100 relay blazed to a time of 42.42 seconds at the Brookfield Central Laser Invite as well.
Homestead's 4x200 relay posted the state's top mark by the narrowest of margins, finishing in 1:29.07 at the Neenah Rocket Invite.
The 4x400 relay has a new top mark, with Oak Creek going 3:23.29 at the SEC Varsity Relays last Tuesday. Also at the SEC Relays, D'Angelo Clapper of Franklin posted a shot put mark of 59'7", narrowly moving into first place on the year.
Cole Zielinski of Waukesha West extended his lead in the long jump, becoming the first athlete to soar past 24-feet this season with a jump of 24'1.5" at the Brookfield Central meet on Saturday.
GIRLS ADDITIONS
Things are settling in, with fewer new state bests in the last week, which did also feature less than ideal weather conditions in many areas.
At the Hale Distance Night in West Allis, Arrowhead junior Ella Anschutz ran the 3200-meter course in 10:28.29.
Oshkosh West junior Sydnee Nelson lowered her state-best time in the 100-meter hurdles to 14.27 seconds at the Kimberly Girls Quad last Tuesday.
There's a new state-best discus throw, as Piper Eby of Germantown leap-frogged Lodi's Izzy Bahe. Eby threw 148'9" at the Washington County Invitation on Thursday.
All of the jumps saw new top marks in the last week. Two Rivers junior Mikayla Vanwychen set a new long jump mark with 19'9.5" at the EWC Relays on Tuesday. Celia Gentile of Neenah moved up to the top spot in the triple jump, becoming the first to clear 40-feet, with a jump of 40'4" at the Neenah Rocket Invite on Friday night. The new season-best high jump moved up to 5'7", cleared by Kiel junior Maddison McDole at the EWC Relays.
Elise Schroeder of Arrowhead cleared 13'6" in the pole vault at the Brookfield Central Lancer Invite on Saturday.
