Seymour junior Vince Sigl has been selected as the Box Out Sports Athlete of the Week for the week of May 5-11 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There were 3,534 total votes this week. Sigl topped all vote getters with 1,360 votes. Northwestern's Ellie Peterson finished in second with 1,232 votes.
Sigl took home top honors in two events for the Seymour boys golf team this past week. Competing in the fifth stop in the Bay Conference, Sigl won by one stroke over his younger brother Owen. Vince shot a 36 at the Mid-Vallee Golf Course in De Pere. Sigl and his team then competed in the Jay Hill Memorial Best-Ball Tournament at the Royal Scott Golf Course in New Franken over the weekend. Sigl, ranked as the top junior golfer in the state, shot a 68, which was eight strokes better than the second place finisher.
This week, Sigl shot a 70 and won the William Hearden Memorial Invitational at Northbrook Golf & Grill in Luxemburg. He also competed in the sixth leg of the Bay Conference meet, shooting a 40 and finishing three strokes behind the top finisher.
