THE MEET: The 102nd Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Boys State Individual Tennis Championships will be held Thursday through Saturday, June 5-7 at Nielsen Tennis Stadium on campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. Action will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday and will resume at 9 a.m. Friday and at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
TICKET INFORMATION: Ticket prices for the State Individual Tennis Tournament are $9 per day plus online fees, and they are available to be purchased online on the WIAA website through GoFan, the WIAA ticketing partner, at: https://www.wiaawi.org/Tickets#42691540-boys-tennis.

LAST YEAR: CJ Kryscio of Menomonee Falls, the second seed, won the Division 1 singles championship with a 6-3, 6-7(5), 10-7 victory over eighth-seeded Nolan Shaub of Union Grove. In Division 1 doubles play, the fourth-seeded team of Ryan Gould and Aidan Ferber of Marquette defeated the sixth-seeded tandem of Aaditya Tiwari and Jacob Smith of Brookfield Central 0-6, 6-3, 10-7 to win the championship. In Division 2, top-seeded Adrian Yin of Brookfield Academy won the singles championship by downing second-seeded Alex Thomas of Notre Dame by scores of 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 in the championship match. In Division 2 doubles play, the top-seeded tandem of Nate Carson and Finn Milleman of Catholic Memorial defeated the second-seeded duo of Matt Gugluizza and Aidan Burich of Notre Dame 7-6(6), 6-4 in the title match.
DIVISION 1 SINGLES OUTLOOK: Defending champion CJ Kryscio, a senior from Menomonee Falls was issued the top seed. He has posted a 26-1 record this season. The three-time qualifier also advanced to the third round in 2023 and to the third round in the doubles bracket back in 2022. Senior Nolan Shaub of Union Grove is seeded #2. He advanced from the eighth seed last season to finish runner-up after placing fifth in 2023. He has compiled an undefeated 28-0 record this season. Junior Alex Thomas of Notre Dame is seeded #3 with a 24-1 record. He moves up to Division 1 this year after finishing runner-up in Division 2 last season. Junior Alexander Bo of Middleton is seeded fourth in the bracket with a 20-2 record. He placed third last season and advanced to the third round in 2023 before being eliminated from title contention. The fifth seed is junior Andrey Semin of Brookfield Central with a 22-4 record. The three-time qualifier advanced to the quarterfinals last year after making it as far as the third round in 2023. Junior Graham Benish of Homestead is the sixth seed for the second year in a row with a 27-5 record. He advanced to the third round last year and two seasons ago in 2022. Freshman Grant Schaefer of Whitefish Bay is seeded seventh with a mark of 22-7 in his first season. Eighth-seeded Andrew Davies of Mukwonago is a three-time qualifier. The senior possesses a 28-5 record after advancing to the second round in each of the past two seasons. Senior Carl Hein of Neenah comes into the tournament with a 24-7 record. He was issued the #9 seed after qualifying in 2023 and advancing to the third round last season. Senior Anderson Fortney of Aquinas is seeded 10th with a 29-3 record. He is a four-time qualifier who moves up to Division 1 this season after placing third the past two seasons in Division 2. He also qualified and fell in his opening-round match in 2022. Since 2001, the top seed in the bracket has won 14 of the 23 singles titles during that span. The lowest seed to win a championship since then has been a fourth seed.
DIVISION 1 DOUBLES OUTLOOK: The brother tandem of senior Aiden Meixl and sophomore Colin Meixl of Kimberly are the top seed in the bracket. They have yet to lose this season with a 19-0 record. Aiden is a three-time singles qualifier. He advanced to the third round the past two seasons after qualifying as a freshman. Colin qualified in singles play last year and lost in his first-round match. Seniors Isaac Besar and Nate Christiansen of Mukwonago comprise the #2 seed. They possess a 29-2 record entering play this week. The duo advanced to the second round two seasons ago, and Christensen qualified with a different partner last season and advanced to the second round. The #3 seeded team is seniors Rohan Singh and Sanjit Madireddi of Brookfield Academy with a 18-4 record. Singh is a four-time qualifier. He qualified three times in Division 2 singles play, placing fourth in 2022 and advancing to the second round in 2023 and 2024. Madireddi is also a four-time qualifier after competing three times in Division 2 doubles. With three different partners, he qualified in 2022, finished runner-up in 2023 and then advanced to the quarterfinals in 2024. Senior Jacob Smith and junior Michael Li of Brookfield Central are seeded fourth with a 22-5 record. Smith was half the duo that finished runner-up last season, and he qualified in singles play in 2023. Li qualified with a different partner in 2023 and advanced to the second round, and he qualified in singles play last year that resulted in a first-round defeat. Seeded fifth is junior Jake Zheng and sophomore Luca Bonfilio of Brookfield East with a 17-7 tally this season. Zheng has qualified the past two seasons with a different partner, reaching the quarterfinals last season and falling in the first round in 2023. Bonfilio was a singles qualifier last year, who proceeded to win a first-round match before being ousted from title contention. The tandem of senior Michael Balister and junior Miles Seder of Menomonee Falls is the #6 seed. Seder qualifies for the third time. With a different partner, he advanced to the third round last season and to the second round in 2023. Balister’s experience comes in singles play, falling in the first round of play last year. They have compiled a 21-6 record this spring. The team of senior Roger McDonough and junior Tudor Cristescu of De Pere is the seventh seed with a 34-3 record, a tally which has the distinction of being the most wins by a duo in the bracket. The pair has qualified in each of the past two seasons, advancing to the second round both times. The Arrowhead tandem of seniors Tyler Reinders and Mason Long have compiled a 16-11 record and have been issued the eighth seed. Reinders placed sixth last year with his brother as a partner, and he also qualified and lost in the first round of singles play in 2023. Long also has experience at State, advancing to the third round of doubles with a different partner in 2023. Since 2001, the top seed in the bracket has won 12 of the 23 doubles titles during that span, and the lowest seed to win the championship since then has been a fourth seed.
DIVISION 2 SINGLES OUTLOOK: Sophomore Oliver Milleman of Catholic Memorial is the top seed in the bracket with a 21-1 record. He placed sixth at State last season. Senior Kyle Hehli of West Salem has a wealth of State Tournament experience as a four-time qualifier. The 2025 WIAA Scholar-Athlete won the doubles title with his brother in 2022, and he placed fifth in singles play in 2023 and fourth last year. He enters play this week as the #2 seed with a 23-2 mark. Freshman Teddy Busateri of East Troy was issued the #3 seed with a 22-1 record this spring. Senior Wesley Auth of St. Mary Catholic has compiled a 23-1 record in 2025, earning him the #4 seed in the bracket. Auth has quality State experience in singles and doubles play. He and his partner finished third in the doubles bracket last season. In 2023, he placed sixth in the singles bracket after placing fifth in 2022 as a freshman. Junior Maddox Bradfield of Madison Country Day was issued the #5 seed with an 18-2 mark. He also qualified last year and fell in the first round of play. Junior Oliver Boyd from University School of Milwaukee is the sixth seed with a record of 5-8. He also qualified the last two seasons, advancing to the second round in 2024 and falling in his first-round match in 2023. Sophomore Michael Pan of Grafton qualified as a freshman last season and advanced to the second round before falling out of title contention. He enters play this week with a 17-4 record as the #7 seed. Senior Nolan Villwock of Kohler qualifies for the fourth time. He attempts to advance out of the first round for the first time since making it to the third round in 2022 as a freshman. He is seeded eighth with a 20-8 mark this year. Since 2001, the top seed in the bracket has won 17 of the 23 singles titles during that span, and the lowest seed to win the championship since then was a sixth seed.
DIVISION 2 DOUBLES OUTLOOK: The #1 seed in the bracket is junior Finn Milleman and sophomore Brady Latus of Catholic Memorial with a 16-1 record. Milleman won the doubles crown last year with a different partner after qualifying for singles play in 2023. Latus qualified with a different doubles partner last year and advanced to the second round before falling out of title contention. Seniors Luke Yoon and Vishal Luthra of New Berlin Eisenhower are seeded second with a 20-3 record. The duo advanced to the third round last season. In addition, Yoon placed fourth with a different partner in 2023. Seniors Miles Gourlay and Jack Gilpin of University School of Milwaukee qualify as a team for the third time. They placed fourth last season after placing fifth in 2023. This season, they are seeded third with a 14-5 mark. Juniors Gianni Frausto and Cavin Baltus of Plymouth return to the tournament field for the second time. They qualified as freshmen in 2023 and fell in their first-round match. This year, they are 21-1 and seeded fourth. Juniors Max Reeve and Auguste Caton of Shorewood qualify for the second year in a row. The fifth-seeded tandem possesses a 13-8 record after advancing to the second round in last year’s State Tournament. The Kohler twosome of senior Brady Ryan and junior Dylan Grueneberg are making their first appearance at State. They are seeded sixth with a 23-6 record. Senior Jonathan Orth and Musa Rahman of The Prairie School received the #7 seed in the bracket with a 15-5 record. Orth is a four-time qualifier. He gained State experience last season in singles play with a loss in the first round. With a different partner in 2022 and 2023, he advanced to the second round and third round, respectively, in doubles play. Junior Mac Yackee and sophomore Johnathan Buye of Edgewood own a 20-3 record and the eighth seed in the bracket. Yackee qualified last season with a different partner and advanced to the second round. Since 2001, the top seed in the bracket has won 15 of the 23 doubles titles during that span, and an unseeded tandem has won the championship twice during that span.

NEED CREDENTIALS?: Media Credential requests for the 2025 WIAA Boys Individual Tennis Championships must be requested by submitting the online credential request form on the restricted media area of the WIAA website by noon Tuesday, June 3. Verification of approved credentials is also available on the restricted media area of the website. Please verify credential requests have been approved. Credentials will be available for pick-up upon arrival at the respective venues.
