The WSN Cup has crowned three winners for the 2024-25 season. This is the 17th year the WSN Cup has been awarded for athletic achievement to teams around the state.
Arrowhead won its fourth straight title in the large school division, making it 15 titles in the 17 years, dominating the WSN Cup large school division. Edgewood won its first WSN Cup in the medium school division after a four-year stint from 2018-22 in the small school divisions. The Crusaders have won ten overall WSN Cup titles; seven in the medium school division and three in the small school division. Aquinas won the small school division for the first time since the 2016-17 season. The Blugolds won the first six small school division title and with this year's win, have won the WSN Cup in the small school division nine times.

Arrowhead has been the most dominant team in the history of the WSN Cup since its inception in the 2007-08 season. This season's title marked the fifteenth title in seventeen seasons.
From 2007-2017 Arrowhead won the first eleven WSN Cup titles in the large school divisions, before Middleton won two straight years and COVID canceled the 2020-21 year. The Warhawks have won all four seasons since that mark.
This year Arrowhead accumulated 925 which was over 100 more than the second place school, Middleton. The Warhawks did it with balance this season, having scored points in all but four sports over the course of the season and winning just one state title on the year.
During the fall season, Arrowhead finished with 330 points which landed the Warhawks third in the standings behind first place Middleton and second place Brookfield East. The Warhawks finished second at state in girls tennis, third in girls swim and dive, fourth in girls golf, while also making late playoff pushes in football, and boys soccer.
The Warhawks dominated the large school division in the winter season, accumulating 275 points as Verona came in second with 200.83 points. A runner-up finish at boys state wrestling and a state semifinal appearance by the girls basketball team highlighted the winter season. Also, the Arrowhead gymnastic team finished fifth at state while the boys hockey team came one game shy of the state tournament.
Arrowhead once again finished first in the standings in the spring season, scoring 320 points which was 16 points better than second placed Brookfield Central. The lone state championship came in the spring season from the girls track and field team, however a bronze finish in boys track and field and a state tournament appearance in girls soccer also were big point getters for the Warhawks.
With nearly two decades of student-athlete achievement at the highest level, Arrowhead continues to be at the forefront of athletic involvement amongst its student population.
Congratulations to the Warhawks for another phenomenal season.
Filling out the standings was Middleton in second place with 796.33 points. It's the fourth straight second place finish for the Cardinals from Middleton who are the only team to knock off Arrowhead in seventeen years, winning back-to-back WSN Cup titles in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
Muskego (608.12 points), Neenah (590.5 points), and Hudson (542 points) rounded out the top five in the large school division. It was the third straight third place finish for Muskego and the second straight top five finish for both Neenah and Hudson who switched places in the standings from a year ago.
Edgewood is now the second school to win double digit WSN Cup titles as the Crusaders captured number ten in the 2024-25 season.
From 2008-2018, Edgewood's enrollment was over 500 putting the Crusaders in the medium school division of the WSN Cup. During that time, they won six medium school titles in ten school seasons. From 2018-22, the enrollment dropped under 500 and the Crusaders won all three WSN Cup titles while in the small school division, the only year not winning it was the COVID-canceled season.
In the third season back in the medium school division, Edgewood has recaptured the top spot winning the cup with 746.16 points, nearly 150 more than the second place school.
Following the fall season, Edgewood was tied with Catholic Memorial at the top of the standings with 300 total points. The Crusaders of Madison got that total with a state championship in girls golf, a runner-up finish in girls swim and dive, and solid playoff performances in both girls tennis and girls volleyball.
The winter season was where Edgewood pulled away, finishing with 262.83 points. The boys hockey team came home with a state championship while the girls basketball team won a silver ball in Appleton. The Crusader co-op gymnastic team finished third at state and the boys swim and dive team finished sixth.
Edgewood finished fourth in the standings during the spring season accumulating 183.33 points and finishing 50 points behind the top finisher Catholic Memorial. Edgewood's girls soccer team finished runner-up in Division 3 and the boys tennis team fell in the Division 2 team state semifinals.
We asked Edgewood AD Ben Voss for a quote about the Crusader's student athlete accomplishments this season and here is what he said:
We are blessed to have great kids, families, coaches and administration supporting education-based athletics at Edgewood High School. None of this would be possible without a an overall team effort.
Congratulations to the Crusaders on another great academic and athletic season.
Catholic Memorial finished second in the medium school division after scoring 602.88 points on the season. It's the highest finish for these Crusaders since their WSN Cup title in 2018-19 and 2016-17.
Notre Dame (485.52 points), Rice Lake (420.13 points), and West Salem (397.01 points) rounded out the medium school division top five. The Tritons of Notre Dame won the previous two seasons in the medium school division and have five WSN Cup titles overall. Rice Lake finished top five for the third time in four years.
Aquinas is back on top of the WSN Cup standings after nearly a decade in between titles in the small school division. The Blugolds captured a ninth title in the small school division, a record for the smallest division in the WSN Cup. From the introduction of the WSN Cup in the 2007-08 season, Aquinas won the first six small school division titles and two more during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 season.
It's been eight years between Cup titles, but Aquinas got back to the top by scoring the most points in WSN Cup history for the small school divisions. The Blugolds amassed 792.71 points which was over 280 points more than the second place team in the small division.
Aquinas scored more than half the total points during the fall season where seven different athletic teams scored at least 37.7 points, resulting in 447.7 points which was the most scored during the fall season by any team, regardless of division. The Blugold girls tennis, girls cross country, and girls volleyball teams all finished with runner-up finishes at their respective state events. Boys soccer advanced to the state tournament, falling in the Division 4 state semifinals. The football team also fell one game short of the state championship, losing in a Division 4 state semifinal game. To cap off the scoring, both the boys cross country and girls golf teams had deep playoff runs.
In the winter season, Aquinas finished fourth in the standings with 179.58 points. Nearly the entirety of those points was scored by the boys basketball team that won the WIAA Division 4 State Championship. The girls basketball team lost in the sectional semifinals and attributed the second most points for the Blugolds in the winter. The gymnastic team also made it to state, finishing eighth competing with the co-op of West Salem and Bangor.
Similar to the winter, Aquinas finished fifth in the standings in the small school division with 165.43 points. The baseball team's state tournament appearance was the biggest point getter during the spring season.
We reached out to Aquinas about winning the WSN Cup and Blugold Athletic Director Pam Donarski provided this quote:
With almost a 90% participation rate thank you to our athletes for participating in the athletics offered at Aquinas High School. Thank you to our parents who support our students and encourage them to belong to multiple teams throughout the year. Thank you to our coaches for providing a great experience for our student-athletes and for their time and dedication they have put in to build programs that not only foster involvement, but instill in our students a winning culture. We are incredibly proud of the teams and programs whose successes have contributed to Aquinas being awarded the WSN Cup for the 2024-2025 school year.
Congratulations to the Bluegolds on winning the small school division WSN Cup.
University School of Milwaukee (507.25 points), Freedom (475.36 points), Kohler (419.16 points), and Bonduel (390 points) were the top five finishers in the small school divisions. It's the highest finish for the University School since it's lone WSN Cup during the 2013-14 season. Freedom finished third, having dropped under 500 enrollment and into the small school division for just this third time in the past 20 years. Both Kohler and Bonduel had incredible school athletic seasons, finishing in just not the Top 5, but Top 10 for the first time in the each school's history.
